My name is Stefania Pepe, daughter of the vinegrower Emidio Pepe, who n 1964 began selling bottled wine, that his grandfather, Emidio Pepe, already in 1899 sold in bulk: Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC.
I am here, in the middle of our vineyards, 7 hectares of Montepulciano and Trebbiano d’Abruzzo DOC 100%, cultivated personally by my father with biological methods, ie without the use of chemical and synthetic fertilizers.
It is time to harvest! We thank Lord that allows us to collect in a few days the result of months and months of painstaking work.
More than 30 years ago my father started the selection of clones of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo to graft on American cuttings (because unaffected by phylloxera), and continues today with the very short pruning (to have a few buds and, therefore, a lower quantity and better quality of grapes per vine), green pruning and, finally, the hand selection of the bunches of grapes that turn into Vino Pepe!
