On 23rd November 1972, the consortium was formed by notarial deed signed by sixteen founding members and, in 1974, the different activities officially began.
The Consortium has, among its main goals, the protection, enhancement and promotion of the Designation, the area and the wines produced.
The numerous accolades obtained in recent years are the result of several factors: the rationality of the new facilities, the modern cultivation and winery techniques, the selection of the most suited varieties to the growing environment and the foresight of the producers.
They, correctly interpreting the spirit of the Designation, chose mainly quality, enhancing in this way their production and contributing to the growth and spread of the D.O.C. Friuli Grave.
