Antonio Caputo has restored an ancient family tradition, which dates back to the nineteenth century, when Afragola was an area renowed for the storage of wine, thanks to its numerous tuff caves. Caputo’s grandfather was a supplier of large distribution.
In the 90s he began the challenge of Aglianico and Falanghina, as well as of Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio, that has won numerous awards. Today, the company produces also the “Ferdinandeo”, a Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio whose Piedirosso grapes are grown directly in the solidified lava to 530 meters above sea level, on the slopes of Vesuvius overlooking Naples, in the municipality of Herculaneum, on the road to the ancient volcano observatory. For now, the production is limited.
