Guado al Melo is located in the heart of the Bolgheri designation, on the Tuscan coast. The company is run by Michele Scienza and his family, winegrowers for generations. Michele's father, Attilio, teaches viticulture at the University of Milan and brought to Guado al Melo his extensive wine library, around which an interesting cultural–historical path between the vineyards and the winery, completely underground, has been created.
The vineyards comprise about 30 hectares of surface. The terroir is particularly suitable for producing complex and elegant wines, thanks to the alluvial and rich in structure soil and the Mediterranean climate cooled by a strong temperature range in summer. The production of grapes is managed with particular attention to the healthiness of people and of the environment, thanks to integrated agriculture. Vinification is traditional, without any additions nor corrections that alter the natural characteristics of the grapes.
