Drius is now and always has been a united family. This strength gives an added value to their constantly dedicated mastery in a gradual passing from father to son during the last few hundreds of years. Now Mauro is at the forefront of the “Città del Vino” winegrowing area of Cormons, in the heart of the DOC Collio and DOC Alto Isonzo and is in the prime of his career. Mauro has been able to enhance the traditional wine-growing methods passed on from his forefathers maintaining a balance in nature and respecting the environment. Together with his young wife Nadia she herself coming from a Cormons winegrowing family, producers of good Collio wines Mauro is gradually passing the know-how onto his children Denis (a future agrarian expert and enologist), Erika and Valentina and they in turn continue to represent a “natural and just right” production philosophy following a sparkling enthusiasm touched with fresh ideas and moving emotions. The grape come exclusively from Drius vineyard which are spread over approximately 15 hectares from the slopes of Quarin hill in the Collio area (between Brazzano and Cormòns) as far as the Isonzo river plain at the foot of the Collio marl soils and the gravely soils of the Isonzo plain are sheltered from the northerly wind by the Alps and enjoy the benefi cial climate effects of the sea, creatingideal condition for grape culture. The vines are grown with loving care to yield grapes of excellent quality, essential for producing the typical wines of the area.
