After his agrarian studies, Alfredo Roagna, with the help of his wife Luigina, joined his father, experimenting and searching for the maximum identity of terroir. The innovation of techniques has given a major help, especially in the vineyard, allowing in 1990 the growth of the company with the purchase of the 50–years–old Cascina Pira in Rocche di Castiglione Falletto that is worked, like all our vineyards, by the family always in first person.
At the end of the nineties Luca, the fifth generation of winemakers, joined his parents on the farm.
Sadly we will remember 2006 as the most difficult year in the company’s story because of the departure of Giovanni, in April, and of Luigina, in August.
Currently, in the cru Pira is a new winery for the production of Barolo and a farmhouse inn to create a meeting point among fans of traditional wines and our family is being built.
The ideas of Roagna for land conservation will be expressed to the maximum: the winery is almost completely underground to make room for a large garden, with an area of recovery of rare plants.
Thanks to the production of electricity by photovoltaic roof, and hot water from solar panels, Casa Roagna Farmhouse Inn and Winery has as its objective to avoid any ecological impact.
