Chateau Feuillet

At a stone’s throw from the production area of Torrette, this small company of more or less three hectares is located.

The Chateau Feuillet wine company was founded in 1997, but stems from a winegrowing tradition which began with grandfather Tinet in the sixties, based on the production of wine for family consumption.

Thanks to the restoration of vineyards and to the business expansion, the company improved from 5,000 square meters to 30,000 square meters of new plants and imposed itself on the market with more or less 18,000 bottles per year.

Anselmet

Quatremillemètres

The “Sparkling” Consortium is son of three well–known Valle d’Aosta companies: Cave du Vin Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle, Crotta di Vegneron and Co–Enfer. From the seat of Arvier the couple Gianluca Telloli – Andrea Costa guide this project with determination, thanks to their profound experience of local vineyards. The promotion of the altitude bubbles line, particularly cured with appropriate presentations, bears fruits. The two new Metodo Classico, produced in the Valley, are sumptuous and elegant. Worth to mention are the processing of the Ancestrale, rare in Italy, and the two labels of the Charmat method, for now produced in Veneto, from blends that have changed, on the pursuit of an ever greater appeal.

Lo Triolet

A vineyard run with great care and according to the principles of integrated pest management, with minimum treatments thanks to particular microclimatic conditions, that confirm the quality of the production of this winery. Pinot Grigio is the grape variety on which we concentrate carefully, with the development of a soft and interesting “lev en barrique” version, of a tasty and refreshing version in steel, and of the one obtained from overripe grapes. This year, the trilogy of these wines is orphan of the sweet Mitsigri 2007, which was not produced because of a limited quantity of grapes. Very interesting is the pulpy Rouge Coteau Barrage, in which the dominant Syrah takes on a more traditional touch with a percentage, although limited, of Fumin.

Les Granges

Les Granges takes its name from the nearby ancient village. Curiously, Grange is also the surname of Liana, who leads the company along with Gualtiero Crea. Talking of small dimensions, in this case, is not a manner of speaking: its vineyards cover just two and a half hectares, but are located at the top of a hill, in full sun, in position that is privileged as well as a necessary condition for the ripening of the grapes at these latitudes (and altitudes). The productive activity began about twenty years ago, without speculative aims, but just not to disperse the wine heritage planted by ancestors, giving the grapes harvested to a cooperative. The turning point was in 2005, with the construction of a wine cellar within the company, that allowed complete autonomy in production.

Les Crêtes

The tasting of the wines of Les Cretes has confirmed the excellent quality of this winery, true landmark of the vineyard in Valle d’Aosta, where history and modern technology intertwine to give important wines such as Fumin Vigne La Tour and paradigmatic varietal footprints such as Petite Arvine Vigne Champorette. But, above all, the elegant complexity of Chardonnay Cuve Bois, a kaleidoscope of scents and a captivating race between flavor and softness. Finally, a nice mention for Les Abeilles, sweet and deliciously scented.

La Vrille

A sandy and pebbly plot of land, with vineyards planted with the Guyot system that reach 650 meters above sea level and a preference for vinification in stainless steel vats: this is, for the two wines offered for tasting, the production philosophy of this winery, to keep in the best way the fragrance of the varietal features, that stand out especially in Muscat Fletri, really pleasant.

La Crotta di Vegneron

A wide range of wines offered for tasting has provided a comprehensive overview of the Valle d’Aosta quality vineyard. The most convincing notes are linked to the aromatic flavor of Moscato Bianco, both in the known Raisin Prieur and in the beginner, safe and without any hesitation, Muscat Attente 2005, seductive in scents and silky in taste. And on the subject of aromatic nuances, the different versions of Nus Malvoisie and Müller Thurgau are always pleasant. Then, the red wines, with yet another confirmation of the pulpy Fumin Esprit Follet and some blends based on Vien de Nus and Petit Rouge, always soft, with well–designed tannin and balanced.

Institut Agricole Regional

The wide range of wines for tasting has allowed us to give a 360 degree view on the Valle d’Aosta vineyard, from which especially red wines of 2007 emerge, on all Fumin, with good softness and never aggressive tannins, always of support to the structure. The white wines have revealed a discrete range of pleasant varietal aromas and a refreshing sapidity. A novelty concerns the new labels, with a minimalist and technical communication that provides interesting information about wines and stimulates to deepen taste and knowledge. Unfortunately, we could not find confirmation of the quality of Orious, not sent for tasting.

Grosjean

1969-2009: 40 years ago father Dauphin began to bottle his own wine to expose it in the Second Exposition des vins du Val d’Aoste. Today, in a 7–hectare vineyard, all major traditional and indigenous vines are grown. The soils are sandy–stony, the vineyards face south between 600 and 750 m above sea level, the density of plant reaches 10,000 plants/ha, vinification is carried out without addition of selected yeasts: all create the best conditions for the development of quality wines and a clear territorial expression. Over all, the Fumin Vigne Rovettaz 2007, very rich and juicy.

Feudo di San Maurizio

The vineyards of the sunny hills of Sarre are the result of the passion of Michel Vallet, who from vigneron for hobby turned into a producer in all respects. Year after year, he has dedicated himself to the rediscovery of rare native grape varieties, with an almost maniacal selection of grapes in the vineyard and great care in every step in the wine cellar. The vine on which he focuses is Petit Rouge, which is found in various forms, such as Torrette Suprieur and Pierrots: wines that summarize in the best way the quality and the importance of this production.

Coenfer

It is always a pleasure to talk about the wonder of the “Enfer” natural amphitheater. Great dynamism in the choices aimed at enhancing Petit Rouge, precious gem of the local viticulture. Attention is needed to disentangle among the labels and the different interpretations of the products offered. In the range, the best expression appeared is that of the cru Clos de l’Enfer, balanced and rich in pulp. The novelty is Digne du Pape, a Magnum dedicated to the summer holidays in the Valley of the Popes. Curious green label, on the way of organic certification.
