Great vines have always been grown in most suited areas in the hinterland of Albenga, along the gentle valley that, starting from Bastia, home of our company, follows the course of Arroscia, moving away gradually from the great Albenga plain to reach Ranzo and the lands of the province of Imperia. The use of pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers does not belong to the local tradition and we have not done anything but adapt to the customs of the past. Growing Organic is not a technical nor economic choice: it is simply cultural. The perception of what we were doing, communicated in a simple and without frills way – especially by word of mouth – has become quickly very popular with the best wine shops and the best restaurants in Liguria and beyond. Names like MaRen, Aimone, U Basti, Bacil and Gig, more than the classic Pigato, Vermentino, Rossese e Granaccia, have attracted wine lovers as synonymous with quality and entirety in production: wines, you know, are not produced by the will of an individual but of the entire family. The newest wine, “Bon in da Bon” (“Really good”), was created with the grapes of a particular cru, harvested late and vinified with the methodologies of our ancestors.
The Maria Donata Bianchi Farm is a small wine–producing company of Ponente Ligure, family–run. They vinify grapes grown exclusively from vineyards owned, situated in the towns of Diano Arentino and Diano Castello. The first bottling dates back to 1977.
From a great passion for the land, with respect of typicality, quality wines have been created, which are not the personal interpretation of winemaking techniques, but which are respectful of the transformation of a grape variety, a reward of daily labor.
Wine, then, is a living creature, cared for and loved, in accordance with the characteristics of the land where it is made.
Azienda Agricola Laura Aschero is a small family–run company that produces every year more or less 65,000 bottles of prestigious wines of Liguria: Vermentino, Pigato and Rossese.
The company, that is located in Ponente Ligure and precisely in Pontedassio, in the hinterland of Imperia, 150 m above sea level, stands on a hill, on eroding terraces, kissed by the sun all over the year and enjoying, then, the ideal temperature and terroir for the development of the vineyard and the maturation of the grapes. The winery, situated in an ancient palace under the square of the town, has been completely restored and now has modern and rational winemaking equipment. We have begun our activity almost as a game in 1980, the owners say, restoring with vineyards the family land, which in other times were used for different types of crops. Helped by the beautiful location of our land, the functionality of the wine cellar and the advice of an excellent oenologist, we managed to get a high quality product, which over the years has earned prestigious awards to quality.
The company was founded in 1996 in Ranzo, in the heart of the Imperia hinterland, at the behest of father Luciano, eager to offer a wine of its production to customers in the elegant restaurant that the Alessandri family had been running at Albenga. Currently, his son Massimo follows the production, mostly focused on the Pigato grape variety, available in two versions with different mark and structure.
Terre Rosse is one of the most important wine realities in Western Liguria, on the Mànie upland, in the hinterland of Savona between Finale and Noli. The author of its success is Vladimiro Galluzzo, serious winemaker who in 1985 took over the family company investing on quality. In 1990 the building of a new winery, combined with the restoration of vineyards, gave rise to an ascent in terms of image immediately rewarded. One of the bets launched was the production of Solitario, an important red wine from grenache, barbera and rossese grapes. The faith for white wines remains, particularly for Pigato and Vermentino. The wines offered are evidence of success tied to the will and passion of a character that has become a point of reference. In the winery Vladimiro is supported by the Oenologist Giuliano No. Over four hectares of owned vineyards, for a total of 30,000 bottles produced.
It was the desire to revive the "garden of Litàn", so as he called it, that spurred us in 2000 to start our adventure, recovering those vineyards which lay abandoned for many years in the Municipality of Riomaggiore (La Spezia).
We are talking about that segment of coast, those steep slopes that overlook the beautiful cove of Canneto, which is part of the Protected Marine Area of Cinque Terre, a special area for its microclimate called "Costa de Sera".
With dedication, passion and hard work we were able to find, in 2006, our Winery, naming it in honor of our grandfather, Giulio, "Cantine Litàn".
The current surface of our vineyard is of about 10,000 square meters.
The company was founded in 1870, when Tommaso Rondelli decided to plant the first vineyards of Rossese Dolceacqua, a DOC vine exclusive of the Nervian Valley area, in a region of white and clayey soil, called Terre Bianche.
Claudio and Paolo Rondelli and Franco Laconi are the protagonists of the company enlargement in the years 1985 and 1998, that allowed not only a further substantial increase in production, both quantitatively and qualitatively, but also the ideal completion of the farming work with the farmhouse activity.
Since the late nineties Filippo has replaced his father Claudio alongside Paolo and Franco in the company’s management. Since then, the quality of wines has been enhanced further, which have come to obtain the most important awards, with the addition of the experience offered to guests in the farmhouse.
La Pietra del Focolare only produces wine made from its own grapes, four Vermentino wines and a Colli di Luni DOC red wine.
The promotion of four Vermentino wines is due to the different positions of vineyards, divided into micro–zones and located in three municipalities (Sarzana, Ortonovo, Castelnuovo Magra), and to the exposures and soil types that allow us to obtain wines that are different in color, flavor and aroma.
Less than two kilos of copper pentahydrate and a little wettable sulfur are the treatments carried out per year. Self–produced green manure, compost and wood chips are the nourishment with whom I feed the land where they my ladies grow. Earthworms, bred on purpose, are my operators of the underground. I do not run any filtration nor fining. I pursue the goal of being able to make a good wine, elegant, mineral, with varietal scents specific of Vermentino through the respect of the soil and of my vines.
A modest vineyard in Liguria's Imperia yields an impressive historical achievement linked to the local pigato grape variety, produced for the first time in six unusual versions, one of which is the very first sparkling wine made exclusively from that grape, the Metodo Classico Millesimato 2009. VisAmoris is the offspring of passion for a harsh but generous corner of earth, Liguria, Imperia. The dream seemed also a challenge: produce a unique wine from a special area that would marry together colours, flavours, fragrances, emotions... In 2004, Rossana Zappa and Roberto Tozzi, decided to make that dream reality and to commit themselves to a new adventure.
Anforsso Estate is a young company, but of ancient vinegrowing origins: in 1888, James Anfosso replanted the vineyard Poggio Pini in Soldano, with partially still existing plants, where Rossese di Dolceacqua Superior is made.
Today, the company covers about 42,000 square meters, including 13,000 square meters of vineyards in Soldano in Poggio Pini and 29,000 square meters of vineyards in the town of San Biagio della Cima in the Luvaira locality.
With hard work and sweat they grown vineyards, located in the hills between the sea and the mountains, with steep slopes, in bands held on by dry stone walls where the work of men is constant and there is no mechanization.
The company has been cultivating vineyards of over sixty years, making wine with the most modern technologies in the winery.
Begasti is a small company devoted to the safeguard of traditional grape varieties in danger of extinction, and offers very characteristic wines, expression of the territory.
The Vio family has been characterized by passion for winemaking for at least half a century.
The family’s passion for winemaking dates back to the early 70s. Ettore and Natalina began at that time to bottle wines sold in bulk up to that point. The small but modern winery is located in the municipality of Vendone; the surface of the plots is of about three hectares, of which two are vineyards.
Quality is the philosophy of this company: it is reflected in the meticulous care of the vineyards and the well equipped winery, where nothing is left to chance and is constantly improved and updated.
