Bastianich

The objective of the Bastianich winery is to absorb the history and culture of the area, creating unique wines that tell the place but, at the same time, demonstrate to stand out for their body, structure and balance. Vespa White and Vespa Red were baptized with those names for the constant presence of wasps, attracted by ripe grapes. These blends are made in an area known for its single–varietal grapes. The focus, in this way, shifts from the vine to the terroir, namely the set of environmental and anthropogenic factors. Il Calabrone presents a red blend made ​​with only the best vintages and partially dried, de–stemmed by hand grapes. It is put on the market five years after the harvest. Native varieties, such as Friulano (formerly known as Tocai Friulano), are not assembled with other varieties, to emphasize the uniqueness. The place of honor goes to Tocai Plus, a particularly complex wine made ​​with grapes from the late harvest and dried grapes, all from a single vineyard with vines of 60 years.

Azienda Agricola Zorzettig

Zorzettig, a name linked to for generations to the winemaking activity of the Friulian land. Once farmers and then owners of lands, to come to the three brothers Livio, Francesco and Giuseppe, who founded in the mid–80s three companies, continuing separately the common path in the world of wine. Giuseppe gave his name to the Zorzettig Cav. Giuseppe farming company that covers the hills of Spessa, a few kilometers from the Longobardic town of Cividale, in the heart of the eastern Hills of Friuli.

The passion and energy of Giuseppe and Antonietta, tireless wife and mother as well as company’s cornerstone, were handed down to their children Roberto, Annalisa and Alessandro, together with the desire to continue to ride the way of love for the land. Many are the innovations introduced during these years, from the innovative vinification techniques to a modern equipment, all actions characterized by the respect for the values of the tradition and the constant pursuit of quality.

The untimely death of Roberto, who guided the company’s technical choices, gave way to Alessandro and Annalisa, who now deal with the agronomic part, the first, of the production and the sales network, the second.
The support in the cellar is assured by Fabio Coser.

The wines of Zorzettig, the result of selected grapes from vineyards owned harvested exclusively by hand, are vinified and aged in the ancient underground wine cellar and in the adjacent barrel room. The production of Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC wines, white and red grape varieties, both local and international, is of about eight hundred thousand bottles year round.

La Sclusa

La Sclusa Farm is located in Cividale del Friuli (UD) in the DOC area of the eastern hills of Friuli. It is possible to visit the winery, to taste the wines and to stay overnight at the farmhouse “Agriturismo Corte San Biagio”, owned the company.

The winery is located 40 km from the Ronchi dei Legionari airport and 15 km from Udine Train Station.

On the hills of Spessa, south of Cividale town, a Latin and Lombard gem, in the heart of Friuli, we find La Sclusa farm. Its vineyards are rooted in marly soils typical of these areas, the eastern hills of Friuli, which have always been synonymous with fine wines, for natural vocation. Here, the Zorzettig family of Sclusa (curious name that originates from an area downstream of the company), devote themselves with passion to the culture of the vine, combining family tradition, experience and modern winemaking techniques, to obtain from excellent grapes fine wines, unmistakable for flavors and richness of aromas. Recently, the company has made ​​available a farmhouse accommodation with comfortable rooms.

Azienda Agricola La Magnolia

More than forty years ago, Guido Cozzarolo, the founder, planted the first vine cuttings (now model vineyards) in the land adjacent to the company’s seat in the eighteenth–century villa in whose garden a majestic century–old magnolia with white and fragrant flowers stands.

The La Magnolia company now has more than 20 hectares of land owned, of which three quarters are cultivates with grapes. The winery with modern equipment produces 1000 hectoliters of fine and appreciated red and white wines, all (with the exception of Franconia) with Colli Orientali del Friuli designation of controlled origin. The winemaking techniques are basically the same that are handed down from generation to generation, even if they are reinterpreted in the light of the current wine science.

Beside the knowledge to produce a wine of high quality, an expression of undisputed prefessionalism and mastery, in Guido and in his family (his wife, his daughter Cristina and his son Alfredo) the pleasure of a familiar and direct approach with customers and wine lovers remains.

Azienda Agricola Crosato

There is an absolute novelty in the world of Friulian wine: wine aged in clayey amphorae of Roman type. The idea was made concrete by the Crosato Giovanni farm, which is located in the heart of the Eastern Hills of Friuli, a land that has always been perfectly suited to exceptional wines.

Giovanni Crosato, oenologist and wine producer, wanted to create a different product, away from modern technology, paying close attention to the language of the land: "Rosso d’Argilla" a new product, special and elegant at the same time, is the result of an ancient art that intrigues and fascinates, in short, a "different" wine. Rosso d’Argilla is only the first example of the philosophy of aging in amphorae; the Scacco Matto sparkling wine, the sweet dessert wine CRETA and the new BRUT NATURE called "THIS IS IT", belong to the new line of products made ​​according to the same technique.

The new winery, located in Cividale del Friuli in via Fornalis 50, built with all the attention to the production of a natural wine that reflects the traditions accompanied by the technological novelties that are offered, stands out for the particular use of space: an area of ​​work (barriques, wine cellar and amphorae cellar) and a welcoming environment where you can taste wines paired with cold dishes typical of the Friulian localities.

Borgo dei Sapori

Six hectares among vineyards and orchards, out of which two are destined to the cultivation of apples and small fruits according to the organic agriculture method.

It is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday surrounded by nature, but also for the discovery of the historic and wine and food traditions of our territory.

Azienda Agricola Altùris

The winery of vinification is located in the foothills in the proximity of Cividale del Friuli, the ancient Forum Julii of the Romans. The vineyards extend over a complex geometry of land, partly flat and partly hilly. In the production white wines predominate (70%) compared to red wines (30%): this proportion reflects the history and viticulture of Friuli, a land of great white wines.

Rodaro Paolo

The Rodaro family love to define themselves Farmers of Spessa, as they consider a boast, in the third millennium, to be the proud holders of the title of farmers. And with this feature they have been able to fit into the modern mechanisms of the farm industry, without having abdicated to the traditions of their homeland. They have not lost touch with their territory and with the culture tied to it, to avoid the risk of deviating from the true characteristics of the product: wines that do not have to sacrifice their typicality to the trends of the moment.

Then, the techniques of Batonage to produce evolution white wines, the over–ripening of the grapes in the cellar for important red wines or the slow drying for Piccolit, do not affect the characteristics of the territory and the typicality of each wine, especially those made from native grape varieties. The ongoing research is useful to fuse together history as bearer of tradition and the future, seen as innovation, without losing anything over time. And history is present in the Rodaro farm with a particular date: 23 March 1846, Kingdom of Lombardy–Venetia; since then they began to talk about the Rodaro family as small farmers and wine producers.

The big changes came in the years between 1960 and 1970 thanks to the commitment of the brothers Luigi and Edo, who were able to transform the small farm in one of the most popular and large wineries of the eastern hills of Friuli. On this road, the work of consolidation of the company continues, and the acquisition of the Conte Romano estate is the latest example of this way of working. The company currently owns about 108 hectares of land and, out of these, 40 are cultivated with vines with an average annual production of 200,000 bottles of fine wine.

Lis Fadis

The Lis Fadis farm is located on the hills of Spessa di Cividale del Friuli (UD) in the DOC Colli Orientali del Friuli area. It is possible to visit the cellar and taste the wines produced. The winery is 30 km from Ronchi dei Legionari airport and 7.5 km from Cividale del Friuli railway station. Lis Fadis, translated from Friuli "Le Fate", is one of the most beautiful wineries in Friuli Venezia Giulia, marked by an aesthetic taste of extreme elegance. The swimming pool with waterfall, the rooms embellished with period furniture, the stone construction of the cellar and the cottage recovered from ancient vestiges, the wine museum with unique pieces, make it an exceptional place in which to taste great indigenous and international wines here products. You reach this corner of paradise, in Spessa di Cividale, thanks to a road that climbs up the hill and leads to a valley protected by the edges of the forest and covered with luxuriant vines, with a millenary olive tree and ancient fruit trees of various qualities. It is always possible to book the visit and the tasting, which will be anticipated by the visit to the vineyard and the surrounding nature. In the summer, guests can enjoy the breathtaking view of the surroundings sitting in the sitting area of the house patio, savoring wines and typical products.

De Claricini

The cellar is located next to the Venetian villa De Claricini; its construction dates back to the 19th century and has recently undergone careful restoration. The floor was redone in quartz concrete while the walls were freed from the old mortars to highlight the stones and the structure of the wall. The ceiling is made up of the old wooden beams and fir boards. The fixtures have been completely recovered. The cellar is divided into three sectors: reception of the grapes and de-stemming, vinification in steel barrels, aging and storage in wooden barrels. De Claricini wines are born from carefully selected grapes from the proprietary vineyards that arrive in the ancient cellar for vinification and maturation. With the same passion of the Claricini counts, the de Claricini Foundation they set up continues to produce quality wines, combining the most modern winemaking techniques with the Friulian wine tradition.

Cantina Gildo di Zorzutto & C.

In Spessa, in the heart of the Colli Orientali del Friuli, on top of a hill covered with vineyards, there is our house and our company. A story of love for nature, vines and wine, started by grandfather Ermenegildo, familiarly called "Gildo", many years ago and continued by his children and grandchildren, in the name of quality and tradition. Our “little ancient world” is this: twenty-five hectares of cappuccina vineyards, mostly on terraces, cultivated with manual techniques. A winery that combines ancient techniques and modern technologies, in which wines are born that reflect the most typical Friulian wine culture, yet at the same time rich in personality: taste them and you will see that they will fascinate you too.
