The Voluntary Consortium for the Protection of the Abruzzo Wines is a body of associative character, nonprofit, formed by the professional categories concerned with protected designations (vinegrower, wine maker, authorized bottler).

In addition to these tasks, the Consortium has an advisory function in respect of the Region and the Chambers of Commerce in relation to:
1. management of the registers of the vineyards
2. management of the list of the vineyards
3. declarations of production of grapes and wines
4. distribution of State Marks
5. whatever responsibility of the Regions and the aforementioned Chambers in the field of wines with designation.
It also provides for the duties relating to the proposals for the regulatory provisions of the respective D.O.C.G., D.O.C. and I.G.T. and has the task of organizing and coordinating the activities of the categories involved in the production and marketing of each designation for the protection and enhancement of the same.
The supervisory activity of the Consortium takes place:
a) at technical level, to ensure consistency between the operational requirements which producers must respect and the standards of production rules;
b) at administrative level, to ensure the protection of the designation from plagiarism, from unfair competition, usurpation and other offenses.
As you can deduce, the duties and functions of such a body are different and of various levels and this Consortium implements them and pursues them with the utmost determination, the same as its associates, vinegrowers, wine producers and bottlers always attentive to quality, put into their work: from the care of the vine to scrupolousness in the transformation of grapes, the diligence of aging of bottles, to the attention to the needs of customers.
