In the eighteenth century, under the guidance of the Tempi family, Castagnoli was one of the most famous estates in the area, as well evidenced by the compliments of the Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo who, in 1773, on a visit to the Chianti area, praised its enlightened management, emphasizing the excellent condition of the farms and the very good living conditions of the peasants.
At the end of the eighteenth century, with the extinction of the Tempi family, Castagnoli went to the Ricasoli family. In 1924, the Rocca di Castagnoli farm, together with the most important companies in the area, founded the Wine Consortium of Chianti Classico.
Of course, many things have changed: since 1981, when the actual owners settled, extensive renovations to the villa and the stronghold have been carried out. Modern working methods, both in the vineyards and in the winery, have been introduced. A modern winery has been created, while the wine cellars of the medieval fortress have been converted into places for aging in wood.

The ruins of the castle, hence the name of the company, bring us back to the Middle Ages. Strategically located in the hills, it was surrounded by a view of the whole Tyrrhenian coast: it was a watchtower from which the Pisans could see in time the arrival of the Saracen pirates and to avoid their terrible raids. Between the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, the bishop of Pisa, nephew of Pope Boniface VIII, in the name of the Roman Church, gave on lease the estate of the Gaetani Earls, who remained owners for five centuries, during which the fortified castle gave way to a more and more significant agriculture activity: hence the construction of the farm to organize the production of wheat, olives and grapes, the traditional cultivation of the area, with the realization, in the seventeenth century, of the farm and then of the winery.
At the end of the eighteenth century, that branch of the Gaetani family remained without heirs, and the Land was bought by Princes Poniatowski, who emigrated from Poland, to which the property – of great interest that was also mining, for the richness of iron, copper and other minerals found in the depths of the hilly terrain – belonged until the first World War.

La Togata is owner of a small company in Montalcino (Siena) consisting of an old farmhouse dating back to the seventeenth century, at that time subservient to the Castle of Argiano, and of a few hectares of land devoted to the cultivation of vines and olive trees.
In particular, regarding vineyards, the company has the availability of vineyards registered in the Brunello Register in the area of the Pieve of S. Sigismondo, in that of Montosoli and in that of Pietrofocaia. The lands are located at different heights and with exposure to the sun until sunset. The age of vineyards, from which grapes intended to produce Brunello are selected, is over 20 years.
The company has as its objective the production of a limited amount of bottles of Brunello di Montalcino, with unique characteristics in body, elegance and fragrance. The vineyards, extremely healthy, are subject to a double thinning of the bunches and, during harvest, the average criterion of choice, in the good years, is three out of five clusters. The grapes obtained in this way are subsequently selected in the cellar, where they are processed according to the old tradition. Wine, after being left to age three years in the barrel, is aged for at least twelve months in bottle before release. It has ruby red color, fruity bouquet, harmonious and velvety flavour, and is especially suitable for long aging.
In the heart of the Montalcino area, Brunello di Montalcino Donna Olga is produced. It owes its name to the producer, Olga Peluso Centolani, vinegrower, passionate woman of wine, since many years committed in the creation of excellent wines.
Of the 11 hectares belonging to the agriculture ownership, a small jewel of nature and landscape, Donna Olga cultivates only 4 with Brunello, with selected clones from Sangiovese and a density of more than 6,500 plants per hectare.

Processing of grapes able to enhance the local terrain of calcareous nature, high reachability on the market and a total adherence to the Franciacorta designations of origin, are the basis on which Roberto Gatti has founded a constant and catchy production. To excel, once again, Franciacorta Extra Brut vintage, which is distinguished by a unique combination of taste–aromatic intensity and cleanliness of accomplishment.
Collelceto farm owes its name to the many Elce (Holm Oak) trees, that create charm and colour the hill, south–west the municipality of Montalcino, on which its vineyards and winery are located.
Fortuna was one of the 12 small farms of the Cafaggiolo Castle, historic home in Mugello of the De’ Medici family, who was native of this place and that, in over 400 years of government, made of Florence one of the most important cities in Europe.
Precisely thanks to the Medici’s Archives, still preserved in Florence, the production of wine by Podere Fortuna since 1465 is documented, when the property was of Lorenzo the Magnificent.
A subsequent document records, in 1627, the existence of 8,090 “low vines”, the specialized vineyard of the period, and of 183 “married to poplars” vines.
The importance of the vines for Podere Fortuna is proven by its coat of arms, taken from a manuscript of 1629, in which a bunch of red grapes surmounts the emblem of the De’ Medici family.
