At the gates of Verona, on the hills in the municipality of San Martino Buon Albergo, Tenuta Musella rises, one of the most beautiful and unitary landscaped complexes of the Veneto region. Musella, full of woods, waterways, vineyards and olive groves, ancient courtyards, churches, cottages and farmhouses, roads and trails, is a sort of ancient, completely fenced natural park, in which many animal species and rare plants live untouched.
At the center of the large centuries–old park, the estate is home to a large seventeenth–century aristocratic villa; the oldest sources make the first news of the noble Muselli family, the first owner of the estate, date back to the sixteenth–century, but you will have to wait until the second half of the nineteent century to know about the winemaking tradition of this area, begun by the inspired and passionate Cesare Trezza di Musella. Since 1990 the estate loses its original unitarity and in 1995 Azienda Agricola Muselli acquires the vineyards and part of the structures that are then adapted to winery and farm.
The ancient winemaking tradition and the particular vocation of the land have allowed us to recover with confidence this wine reality to carry it forward with dedication, professionalism and constant technological and high quality update.
Agricola Ca' la Bionda is a family-run winery that produces high-quality wines using organic and sustainable practices. They combine traditional winemaking techniques with modern technology to create unique and expressive wines that reflect the terroir of their vineyards. The winery is known for their Soave Classico and Valpolicella wines, which have received critical acclaim from wine experts and enthusiasts alike.
The story of Mamete Prevostini is that of an Italian winery that began to love Italian wine more than 70 years ago and which has a close connection with the territory: Valtellina, one of the most important terraced wine–growing areas in the mountain in Italy.
Since ancient times it has been the center of an important node of communication: it unites Italy and Switzerland and northern Europe. Roads walked for centuries by peoples and civilizations that have left their contribution, today easily recognizable through traditions, culture and local products.
Around the most important of all, wine, a great civilization that has had continuity in the prestigious tradition of the production of Valtellina wines has been created, focusing on one of the greatest grape varieties in the world: Nebbiolo.
Nino Negri represents today a wine reality of the Valtellina area that combines in the best way tradition and technology. To obtain great results it is necessary to work always with the maximum effort and to invest continuously in the winery and in the vineyards.
Today the winery owns 1,500 new barrels of French and American oak and has completed the replacement of the large barrels with more than 100 barrels of smaller size, to allow a greater selection of the masses. The same thing applies for new tanks and more modern vinification plants that allow to implement new systems of winemaking. 11 of the 34 hectares of property have been replanted with new clones of Nebbiolo and new planting systems with circuiting terraces.
Tenuta Mazzolino is a renowned winery dedicated to producing exquisite wines. The winery combines traditional winemaking techniques with modern technology to create wines that reflect the unique terroir and high quality grapes. Their vineyards are carefully tended to ensure maximum flavor and freshness in every bottle, and they take great care to ensure sustainability and respect for the environment. Azienda Agricola Monsupello places its foundation more than a century ago, in 1893, when the Boatti Family in Cà del Tava locality in the municipality of Oliva Gessi already dedicated itself to the care of their vineyards. In 1914 the Boatti bought, a few kilometers away, another plot called Podere La Borla in the municipality of Torricella Verzate. Here they founded a winery, the same that today has been upgraded and modernized for the vinification of the grapes of the original farmhouses and those gradually acquired.
In 1959, Carlo Boatti embossed to the company a further development, he modernized it again acquiring new land in the municipalities of Casteggio, Redavalle, Pietra de Giorgi, reshaped the varietal structure with the introduction of new grape varieties, implementing new winery structures, created modern facilities for winemaking, bottling and storaging of wines.
Today Monsupello is managed by the heirs of Carlo, his wife Carla and their children Pierangelo and Laura Boatti, accompanied by a trained technical staff in the vineyard and in the wine cellar coordinated by the oenologist Marco Bertelegni.
The 50 hectares of vineyards owned, grown to have a low yield of grapes per hectare, the manual harvesting only in boxes, the grapes/wine yields below 55% are our goal to present structured and harmonious wines that can give emotions to consumers. The company is constantly changing according to the current market needs and is well determined to continue the journey begun by Carletto, based on qualitative targets that have brought it in time to the top of Italian oenology, with numerous awards by various guides.
The “S.a.S. Giorgi & C.” company was founded in 1875 and has known three generations of vinegrowers. With three great detached wineries for processing, packaging and storage of wines, it has equipped them with modern and sophisticated machinery.
The first, situated in the Casa Chizzoli district, has a capacity of more or less 20,000 quintals of wine and inside of it we find vinification plants of white and red grapes. The product here obtained is transported, through cisterns, in a second winery, located in the Camponoce di Canneto Pavese district, the main seat of the structure, where in addition to the modern bottling chain, the administrative offices are placed. The bottled and packaged wine, partly remains in the above–mentioned winery and partly is transported to the third winery, which was the old seat, located in the Vigalone district.
The company also has a fourth cellar, underground, which enjoys an ideal temperature for the second fermentation of sparkling wine and for the aging of valuable red wines.
Azienda Agricola Provenza, now a balanced blend of history and modernity, is composed of four farms, the oldest built in 1710 by the notary from Desenzano Sebastiano Maioli and since 1967 the seat of the Provenza’s activity, Cà Maiol.
To it, the Contato family has added over the years the land of the Molino, Rocchetta and Storta farms, where new vineyards were planted, to meet the demand of a booming market. The plan of reorganization of the structure has also witnessed, in recent times, the construction of a modern and large underground wine cellar and an architecturally enhanced exhibition space where the public can taste all the wines produced by the company up to the noble extra virgin olive oils of Garda.
Azienda Agricola Ricci Curbastro is a family-owned winery that produces high-quality wines using traditional methods passed down through generations. The winery prioritizes sustainability and respect for the environment, and its vineyards are tended with meticulous care to ensure the best possible grapes for winemaking. The resulting wines are known for their complexity, balance, and elegance, and have garnered numerous awards and recognition from wine critics and enthusiasts alike.
Alessandro Bianchi boasts year after year a valuable and constant production, based essentially on Franciacorta, where are nuances to make the difference between a label and another. “4 Grappoli” of leap for Franciacorta Brut Cuvette, where qualities of simplicity and freshness coexist harmoniously with more complex perceptions given from long aging maturation on yeasts. Excellent is also the comer Franciacorta Rosé Brut, for now limited to 5,000 bottles but destined to grow in the coming years.
Great performances of the company run by the Uberti family, for several years at the top of the national sparkling wine making, are almost a custom. To support these achievements, a geological and microclimate context that offers some significant advantages, compared to other areas, contribute. The superficial limestone layers, along with the veins of clay and sand, ensure optimum thermal stresses during summer and winter, enriching grapes of precious minerals and maintaining their values of acidity high, a guarantee of complex and long–lived wines.
Travaglino is a reality in continuous development, which supports for the production of all the company’s sparkling wines the exclusive use of steel during the ripening phases, in order to safeguard and enhance the varietal features of the vines. Worth to mention is Oltrepò Pavese Brut Cuve 59 2006, based on the character of Pinot Nero and able, in pairings, to step up with red meats. Excellent result also for the other samples tasted. Oltrepò Pavese Brut Classese 2006 has not been produced due to climate ranges not suitable for that label.
Cavalleri winery is a family-owned estate that produces high-quality wines using traditional methods. Passion, courage and confidence of the enormous qualitaty potential that Puglia and in particular the areas of Castel del Monte and Salento can express, are the elements that have driven the Antinori family to invest in this region. The basic idea on which, from the outset, the production philosophy of Tornaresca is based, is to produce great wines from native grapes of Puglia, most of the vineyards which compose the company, grown in effect with traditional grapes, some of them dating back to the civilization of Ancient Greece and strongly rooted in the land: Primitivo, Negroamaro, Fiano, Aglianico and Nero di Troia.
Tornaresca, therefore, promotes the great quality potential inherent in each of these varieties, often adequately valued and appreciated, but capable of giving wines of great personality, typical, structured but at the same time modern and pleasant.
The selection we had the opportunity to evaluate revealed an absolute respect for the varietal characteristics of the grape varieties and of the designation of origin: they are measured and spirited Franciacorta wines, without forced “dosages” and excesses in those fragrant notes that sometimes compromise the spontaneity of this type.
