Welcome Harvest to enjoy the atmosphere of the grape harvest.
Welcome Harvest begins on the 9th September and then goes on according to the regions on the 16th, 23th and 30th September 2012. The event organized by the Wine Tourism Movement to live the wine from the grape to the barrels. Sunday will combine winery visits and walks through the vineyards and tastings of local produces. This special wine festival aims to contribute to the maximum involvement of enthusiasts and experts, allowing everyone to deepen their relationship with the land and its resources. Wine lovers, enthusiasts and experts could take part in the harvest and follow all the stages of production: participate in the harvest of the grapes till the first working processes in the company. Welcome Harvest is a unique opportunity to deepen the wine culture knowledge in its territories of production, by tasting wine glasses, typical products and walking between the rows. All over the country many initiatives are taking place in the wineries of the Wine Tourism Movement: folk performances, folk dances, live music and exhibitions of wine tools, art workshops for children and families, cultural events and bicycle routes through vineyards and wineries. Veneto The Valpolicella offers the chance to harvest the Corvina grapes and totaste the Amarone wine combined with local dishes (Vogadori). In the province of Padua, you can enjoy a special menu based on white and black grapes of Fattoria Monte Fasolo. The Castle of Roncade (TV) will be the occasion of solidarity for the earthquake victims of Emilia as there will be a selection of excellent agricultural enterprises dameged by the earthquake (balsamic vinegar of Modena DOP, parmesan cheese, etc..). Welcome Harvest will continue on the 23 of September and 6th of October with tastings and visits to wineries in the areas of Valdobbiadene (Bortolomiol) and Annone Veneto (Paladin). Campania On the 9th of September , Astroni brings to the stage and Falanghina and Piedirosso to discover the wine peculiarities of the Flegrea area.There will be historical and natural journeys on the creater Astroni, WWF oasis and natural reserve of the State. The Masseria Venditti also organizes a walk sensory from over 20 local grape varieties in the the "educational vineyard." Puglia On Sunday 16th ofSeptember the Winebus is leading among art exhibitions, music performances and folk dances for a day together with the wine producers. Lombardy Also on September 16 Lombardy offer wine tasting, lunch with the winemaker (Bosco Longhino), the possibility to follow the traditional wine pressing by hand or grape treading in the old wine press machinery.(Pietrasanta). Lazio Welcome Harvest is taking placeon the 30 of September : in the Casale Cento Corvi scheduled guided tours of the vineyards and the chance for adults and children to experience the harvest. And in order to underline the strong relatioship between the territory of the Etruscan culture, experienced guides are taking visitors to Cerveteri to discover the archaeological site of Banditaccia and its new virtual paths.
