Lugana Riserva 2018, a perfect combination of grape variety and territory, completes the project.

From the beating heart of the Lugana appellation, in Sirmione a few steps from Lake Garda, among the rows of the Tommasi family's Le Fornaci estate, Le Fornaci Lugana Doc Riserva 2018 is born , the highest expression of the Turbiana grape and emblem of a territory among the most suitable of the country.

After the Lugana DOC 2020 and Le Fornaci Rosé 2020, the Le Fornaci project is completed with another great enological innovation: the Riserva 2018 , an exclusive and complex white wine, which expresses the more "lacustrine" and mineral style of Lugana.

«The Riserva 2018 is an elegant and intense Lugana, which contains the delicate and fresh aromas of Lake Garda: a white destined to represent the qualitative peak of production that will be vinified only in the best vintages - comments Giancarlo Tommasi, oenologist -. The Riserva is also a historic wine, capable of expressing the qualities of a unique terroir that our family has been committed to enhancing for generations: this wine, in fact, represents the spearhead of the Le Fornaci project, which we have promoted over the years. to pay homage to the incredible landscapes and to one of the most suitable wine regions in Italy, that of Garda. Through this wine, which for us represents the perfect combination of grape variety and territory, we would like all wine lovers and wine lovers to be able to enjoy, with us, the wonders, aromas and scents of this magnificent corner of our country ".

Le Fornaci Lugana Doc Riserva 2018 is an important white, produced from 100% Turbiana grapes, which is partially aged in wood, thanks to which it acquires structure and complexity.
Light yellow in color with bright golden reflections, the Riserva has a rich bouquet that harmonizes the fresh mineral notes with those of ripe yellow fruit. The rich aroma combines floral and citrus hints with delicate notes of honey, with an elegant aftertaste of vanilla and nuts. On the palate, the wine is ample and closes on fresh and savory notes. It has a long enveloping, intriguing and persistent finish, with a marked acidity and a well-balanced structure.
Lugana Riserva 2018 is an important bottle, which enhances the typical flavors of Lake Garda and goes perfectly with lake fish, pasta dishes, medium-aged cheeses, but also with meat dishes.

Harvest 2018
Highlights : a complicated vintage which however resulted in one of the best, in an absolute sense, for Lugana.
Harvest : it was possible to obtain an excellent ripening thanks to the intense agronomic work.
Climatological considerations : winter and spring rich in rain with hot summer and arid August; from the beginning of September there were ideal temperature variations to complete the maturation.
Agronomic considerations : it was harvested well in loamy and sandy soils, which lead to the development of greater quantities of aromatic precursors in the grapes.

Vinification and aging
After the manual harvest and the selection of the best bunches, the delicate and soft pressing of the whole bunch takes place. The vinification protocol is very rigorous: fermentation of 25% of the must in 500 Hl French wooden barrels and 75% in steel both for 18 months. This is followed by the blending of the two musts, bottling and resting for 6 months in the bottle.

The Fornaci in numbers
3,327 bottles produced; 1,000 destined for the Italian market.
