Tomorrow, 27th July, Melodia del Vino 2013 starts. Now in its third edition, this festival is truly unique, combining the art of wine and the art of music.
Melodia del Vino is dedicated to the excellences of wine with the major protagonists of the international music scene in the world of classical music.
The notes of pianos will animate wineries, castles and villas of Tuscany. The Festival is really the ideal bridge that links the excellences of Tuscany.
The Festival involves and animates 4 provinces of Tuscany (Florence, Livorno, Siena and Grosseto) in the most beautiful wine estates in the region. The owners of the four farms that made their estates available are to thank: the Antinori family, the Moretti family, the Mariani family, the Zonin family, the Panerai family. Creators of the very original format are the Master Marc Laforet, artistic director, and Michel Gotlib, wine and music lover and president of the Melodia del Vino Festival.
The 2013 program offers five unmissable concerts of classical music accompanied by wine tastings.
At the opening of the festival there will be the talented Ukrainian pianist Alexander Romanovsky. Born in 1984, when he was eleven performed piano recitals throughout northern Europe. In 1997 he moved with his family to Italy, to Imola, to study at the Accademia Pianistica Internazionale and from there his career as a musician took off.
The first evening of wine Melody 2013 will take place at the Cantina Antinori by the architect Marco Casamonti. It is a really unique building that "blends" with the surrounding land, set in a hill and covered in vineyards - it was, in fact, designed to combine perfectly with the environment and the surrounding landscape.
The second concert will take place on 29th June at Petra Winery in Suvereto in the province of Livorno. It will be a chance to see the first of two performances at the piano of the teacher Marc Laforet (France). The location of the concert will be "made by Mario Botta", owned by the Moretti family.
The third stage of Melodia del Vino is in the province of Siena, at Castello Poggio at Mura Banfi in Montalcino. You will enjoy the performances on the piano of Marc Laforet and with the cello of Henri
Demarquette (France).
It is home to one of the concerts of the Festival thanks to the helpfulness of the Mariani family.
On 4th July, Melodia del Vino goes on stage in Grosseto, at the Tenuta Rocca di Montemassi in Roccastrada. You will taste the wines and then the young and talented pianist Beatrice Rana will perform. Rana made her debut at the age of nine with the Concerto in Fa Minore by Bach. He graduated at 16 at the Conservatory with honors and honorable mention, and from there her concert career began. She has been the youngest participant ever in the Italian history to win, in 2011, just eighteen years old, the first prize of the tenth International Competition of Music in Montréal, Canada.
The last date of the full program is on 6th July, at Tenuta Rocca di Frassinello in Gavorrano. The winery, designed dall'archi-star architect Renzo Piano, will be the location for the performance at the piano by Giovanni Bellucci. Considered one of the most influential pianists of our time, for British magazine Gramophone "is an artist destined to continue the great Italian tradition historically represented by Zecchi, Busoni, Michelangeli, Ciani".
The Tuscany Region has decided to join and support the initiative since its first edition in the summer of 2011. Decisive for the success of the event is the support of Toscana Promozione and Fondazione Sistema Toscana that looks after the online communication.
"Melodia del Vino is growing, becoming in just three years a landmark of the season, both
for the quality of the musical events and for the participation of the greatest producers of Tuscan wines -
the regional councilor for culture and tourism Cristina Scaletti says -. The collaboration with the Cities of Wine helps
this festival to keep its international horizon and at the same time its roots in
Tuscany.
An event that enhances and diversifies the regional cultural offer, but that is also helpful to
tourism: the organizers and operators involved have already confirmed that the first
bookings are arriving, from abroad, by music fans that take advantage of this opportunity to spend a few days
of holiday in Tuscany. For these reasons, the Region will continue to support it as done from the beginning, in 2011".
