The appointment with the Italian Grappa in Grapperie Aperte was a real achievement that challenged and won also the rain. Remarkable the presence of foreigners, that confirms the appreciation of our spirit.
Grapperie Aperte 2013 did not fear the rain. Thousands of people took advantage of the wonderful opportunity offered by the Grappa National Institute and its members: to spend a whole day in the interesting world of Italian grappa.
Curious people and lovers could discover the fascinating world of grappa, through tastings and guided tours to the plants. Many are the accessions which confirm the great interest in grappa. Significant also the presence of foreign tourists who took advantage of the opportunity to learn about the Italian spirit all round.
“A ?symbolic? visit, in a sense, that of foreigners - the President of Grappa National Institute Elvio Bonollo said - which confirms how our distillate is appreciated even abroad. It is witnessed also by the numbers of grappa: since 2011 the production has increased of approximately 18% and, compared to a slight decline in the domestic market, the share of export has increased of a good 15% with prevalent development of sales in the European markets involved in much of the export - about 30% - with interesting niche in developing markets such as Eastern Europe: sales are increasing in Estonia ( +10%), Latvia (+24%), Slovakia (+13%), while it is a true boom in Albania with +64%.
Even in Russia, where the flagship distillate has become increasingly widespread in recent years, there has been a further increase of 27%, and this "gateway" to Asia opens a way also to Eastern countries: Thailand, surprisingly, records a +60 % which, combined with the 40% of the Philippines, to the 76% of Taiwan and to the 20% of Japan, makes of the Asian market one of the most dynamic in terms of creation and dissemination of a culture of grappa. In absolute terms - Bonollo concludes ? are small quantities, but the percentages express the full force and enthusiasm that our associates are putting in the international spread of our flagship spirit”.
