The "Alambicco d’Oro" 2015 competition awarded as many as 4 gold medals, 39 silver medals and a Special Award to the best Italian Grappa.
The 32nd "Alambicco d’Oro Award" competition sponsored by Anag, Tasters of grappa and brandy, saw the participation of 44 distilleries, which were joined, for the first time in the history of the competition, by 11 wineries that distill the so–called "farm grappa".
43 are the best grappa and brandy selected among 135 products arrived from 9 Italian regions and 17 provinces.
«The selection by the jurors of Anag was difficult – Soldi, the Chairman of Anag, said – both for the new criteria of the competition and for the quality of the many products in the contest, and many distillates, unfortunately, were excluded for a few cents. 4 gold medals and 39 silver medals were awarded, in addition to a Special Award".
The best Italian grappa: the new trend
"The good amount of participants in all categories – Paola Soldi continues – confirms the attention of distilleries towards our initiative. (...) Going into the details of the award–winning products, we note that among the aged grappa, the only ones to win a gold medal, the long–aging ones were predominant, more rich in aromas, more complex and persistent, with more intense hints of colour. Among young grappa, instead, the winners were those from vinified in red marc, with warmer and more fruity scents, and those from rich in flavour grapes such as Arneis, characterized by floral and fruity aromas, Prosecco, semi–aromatic grape variety, and the Grappa di Vinsanto, which comes from dried grapes. Among the young aromatic grappas awarded, finally, ex–aequo for Gewürztraminer and Muscat".
