The awards of the "School Of Dop" initiative, the project born thanks to the European campaign Nice To Eat-EU, designed to tell the origin, the goodness and the characteristics of the Piave PDO cheese to primary school children, were assigned on 29 June.
The creative contest - aimed at the children of the fourth class of the provinces of Milan, Bolzano, Trento, Trieste, Turin, Bologna, Parma, Rome, Bari, Naples and Florence - was organized to celebrate the Piave DOP through the heroic deeds of its " defender ": Captain Piave.
Thanks to the adventures of this superhero, children, with the help of teachers, have learned to recognize the protected designations of origin, increase their food culture and become aware of healthy choices.
THE PROCESSES
Numerous works received, each participating class was asked to create a storyboard of the new adventures of the superhero Captain Piave, already followed by tens of thousands of children on youtube https://youtu.be/jPJPWmIoL-Y, and then "put them in scene "by choosing the most appropriate expressive typology to be chosen from comics, research, short story, photo shoot and game.
The works have been able to illustrate, in an original and amusing way, the characteristics that distinguish the Piave PDO and the threats that loom over the quality brand products, through the perspective of Captain Piave and the other characters who support him: the Brown Cow, the bad dr. Fake and many others who will be able to invent and animate the stories created by children. The participating classes were supported by an educational kit with in-depth information for teachers and a folder for children and by two very interesting video lessons dedicated to Piave DOP cheese.
THE JURY AND THE AWARDS
A jury of experts made up of Chiara Brandalise - Director of the Consortium for the Protection of Piave PDO Cheese, Tomas Piol - Consortium for the Protection of Piave PDO Cheese, Valentina Martinelli and Lorena Bontempi - communication consultants individually judged the documents received on the basis of the 'originality, creativity and innovation through a scale of grades from 1 to 10. The works were submitted to the jury in a totally anonymous form.
The award procedure was interactive and engaging: the children of the classes on the podium and their teachers were invited by the organizers to connect to Zoom to discover their placement together.
