The "In fondo ai tuoi occhi" non-profit association has organised on 5th September a special charity event with an auction of Tuscan wines and a dinner by the Michelin-starred chef Marco Stabile of the Ora d'Aria restaurant.
The proceeds of the initiative will be devolved to the Uoc of Ophthalmology and to the group of Dr. Doris Hadjistilianou, of Le Scotte Hospital in Siena. The department is a reference point for Italian and European patients for the treatment of retinoblastoma, a cancer that affects children under three years of age.
The evening will take place on 5th September 2013 in the heart of Florence at the Guicciardini Palace (Via Guicciardini 15).
There will be an auction of wines, whose proceeds will be devolved to the Uoc of Ophthalmology. The auctioneer will be Dario Cecchini. Attendees can win:
Brunello Podere Paganico (magnum), Cantine Ceci, and a number of bottles selected by Carlo Macchi of Winesurf.it (Riserva Ducale Ruffino; Brunello Borgo Antico; Rocca delle Macie Chianti Classico (magnum); Barolo Fontanafredda)
There will also be a dinner which will be directed by Chef Marco Stabile of the Ora d'Aria restaurant of Florence (http://www.oradariaristorante.com/). The price will be 80 Euro, children under 12 years free.
What is "In fondo ai tuoi occhi"?
"In fondo ai tuoi occhi" is a non-profit association based in Poggibonsi (Si), was founded in May 2012 to raise funds for the Department of Ophthalmology of the Le Scotte Hospital of Siena, where the center of excellence for the treatment of retinoblastoma is located. It brings forward a communication campaign to raise awareness towards the cancer that affects children. All this, in addition to raising funds for research and the purchase of new machinery and technologies.
The results of Auction and Dinner of last year
With the proceeds of the dinner of last year, the "In fondo ai tuoi occhi" association helped to organize the international conference of physicians on the Siena protocol for the treatment of retinoblastoma, which took place in Siena. Moreover, a scholarship of 6 thousand Euro was established in favor of Dr. Maria Carla De Luca at Le Scotte Hospital of Siena. This, in addition to helping with small financial contributions some families that have difficulties in having their children cured in Siena.
