What is the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2014 Preview Photo Contest?
A photo contest to promote the area and tell, through the artistic abilities of many photography enthusiasts and lovers of our country, the activities related to the world of viticulture and oenology, activities that are part of the history and culture of Abruzzo.
The 40 photos selected by the jury were exposed in Chieti on 1st, 2nd and 3rd March 2014 at the Exhibition Center of the Chamber of Commerce of Chieti, on the occasion of the homonymous event Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2014 Preview.
What was the theme of the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2014 Preview Photo Contest?
The object of the competition was to highlight the aspects strictly related to the world of oenology and viticulture in the region of Abruzzo: the most significant features of culture, history and traditions of the area, even through the characters, the architecture and the landscape that pivot on the world of wine. Wine seen through the stages of harvesting or processing, through people, tools, places connected to it.

MOTIVATION OF THE JURY
This picture could not go unnoticed. A harmonious overlap of the subjects, all of which making themselves readable. The presence of the full range of grays in this photograph in black and white creates a dreamy atmosphere with beneficial vibrations. The drink contained in the chalice and savored by the young woman transports us to the product and the whole is reinforced by significant presences: leaves, bottles and other things engaged in a very refined tasting. A vision magically represented by a woman photographer.

MOTIVATION OF THE JURY
The picture convinces us due to the high graphic value of its forms. A dense network of lines captures the man like a spider’s web and the same fate is reserved to the observer that can not avoid getting into the scene. A few elements that are repeated in a fine, wanted, essential and perfectly realized picture. The black and white takes out color but adds the right amount of charm that completes the work. The context is that of a vineyard, then relevant to the topic, but brought in a very personal and original way.

MOTIVATION OF THE JURY
Simple photographs always work: the rhythmic silhouette of the bottom vineyard interpenetrates with a gradient of colors from blue to orange. To break the perfect joint between heaven and earth, a blade of moon exactly in the center of the composition.
The “Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Preview” Photo Contest is coordinated by the organizers of the homonymous event of a regional nature, carried out by the Domestic Trade Regional Centre of the Chambers of Commerce of Abruzzo in collaboration with the Italian Sommelier Association Abruzzo and the Chamber of Commerce of Chieti, and the technical collaboration of Paesaggi D’Abruzzo.
