The event, organized by the Consorzio Barbera d'Asti e Vini del Monferrato inside the medieval castle of Costigliole d'Asti, closes its first edition with the promise of becoming an annual appointment to tell the public, sector operators and the press the many faces of this territory. Between masterclasses, showcooking and meetings with producers, "Monferrato Wine Festival - Monferrato Identity " has made it possible to unveil a long-term project, a collective commitment of the Consortium and companies participating in the service of one of the largest and most varied winegrowing areas in the world. “ From this the idea of Monferrato Identity was born, a link between wine and production area which is indissoluble and which must be represented and supported - explains Filippo Mobrici, President of the Consortium - We represent a territory rich in resources that must be valorised: culture, centuries-old peasant traditions, a cuisine rich in typical products, a multifaceted but united winemaking reality create the identity of Monferrato. Our commitment, our responsibility is to give a voice to all of this. We are happy and proud to have hosted this first edition, held at a time of great difficulty for other areas of our country ". In this context of mutual aid and work for the community, the Consortium is undertaking to allocate a sum that will be donated to families affected by the floods in Emilia-Romagna. Choice motivated by the Consortium's desire to provide timely support for the ongoing emergency.
“Monferrato Wine Festival – Monferrato Identity ” is also committed to giving voice to the territory in all its aspects, including those related to science and research . On Saturday 20, in fact, the official presentation of the book " Barbera 2.0 " was also held, a manual whose creation was coordinated by the Consortium and which recounts an entire three-year period of studies and analyzes of Barbera wines in the DOCG area. A work born from the need to scientifically investigate the Monferrato area in order to be able to make a sustained and desired contribution to all the companies in the area and to describe how the agronomic approach will have to change over the years as regards Barbera d'Asti. A work that is a further sign of unity and concrete collaboration between the University of Turin , the Consorzio Barbera d'Asti and Vini del Monferrato , the Banca di Asti , the Cassa di Risparmio di Asti Foundation and the Piedmont Region .
“Monferrato Wine Festival – Monferrato Identity” was a precious opportunity for meetings not only between the public and the territory but also with the sector and lifestyle press, in a three-day tour in the symbolic areas of Monferrato and with the possibility of discovering the peculiarities of local wine products.
