Bolgheri: autographed barrels auctioned for charity

Bolgheri wine barrels signed by Giorgio Albertazzi, Giorgio Panariello, Federico Moccia and by artists went up for auction for charity.

The barrels are the symbol of the strong ties among territory, traditions, history and people of Bolgheri. The proceeds from the auction of the barrels went to the "Gli Amici di Sughero" Association, developed in collaboration with the "Bambini Cardiopatici nel Mondo" non-profit association, that has as its principal activity the separate collection of bottle stoppers made of cork that plug the greatest and not greatest wines of the territory. The "Gli Amici di Sughero" Association was founded in Bolgheri and deals with the separate collection of corks. The wineries, the restaurants and the wine bars along the Etruscan Coast, are involved in the project as a collection point, at which through volunteer work, pockets of jute marked with the logo of the initiative are separated and gradually withdrawn, which serve for the material storage.

In addition to the signed Barrique, a selection of bottles of wine from the companies that joined the Enoteca of Bolgheri and a limited number of coded glasses with the official logo of the Festival went for acution.
The barrels signed by the present celebrities went up for auction on 25 August 2013 at the Wine bar of the Arena Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, in San Guido di Bolgheri (LI). Cork can be reused in many eco-friendly ways such as green building or the eco-absorbents against pollution. The worthy initiative does not think only of the environment, in effect the proceeds from recycling of cork will go to the children of the "Bambini Cardiopatici nel Mondo" non-profit association.
