Two weekends of special openings, organized by the Barolo & Castles Foundation, to prepare to start a new year of visits and activities for WiMu, the futuristic Wine Museum within the picturesque Falletti Castle of Barolo, in province of Cuneo. The official opening of the new season of activities is taking place on 21st March.
The special wine museum in the hills of Langhe and Roero will open also at the weekends of 7th–8th March and14th–15th March: the rooms designed by the Swiss architect François Confino will be open to visitors exceptionally. The official reopening of the WiMu Barolo will be on 21st March.
What is WiMu Barolo?
It is the most innovative wine museum in Italy and among the most important in the world, located in the heart of a worldwide famous for its wines area and within a centuries–old castle.
To set up the museum: François Confino, who proposes an interactive and emotional journey through culture and the tradition of wine. Thanks to the museum you can see that wine is braided with the evolution of whole civilizations, influences artistic expression and shapes territories and peoples. Confino in itself explains these aspects:
«I have visited several museums dedicated to wine in the world. But none of them tells the extraordinary and cultural dimension of wine. And to me, however, it was essential to create a poetic tour. Not a place where you learn how to make wine, but a place that speaks of the relationship between us and "him"»
The path of the museum – WiMu
François Confino has imagined a path that weaves scientific and poetic dimensions.
The WiMu is a path descending from room to room, an authentic immersion into the culture of this product.
A journey that starts from the rooftop terrace on the third floor of the castle to the ancient cellars, the heart of the building, where the mid–nineteenth century Barolo wine was created.
At the beginning, the protagonist is nature, whose contribution is essential to create a great wine. Then, you discover wine in history and art, in the kitchen and in movies, in music and in literature, in the universal myths and in local traditions.
