The long–awaited “Top 100” 2013 of “Wine Spectator” has been announced: the Italy of Wine boasts
as well as 16 wines in the prestigious ranking. Piedmont and Tuscany at the top.
“Wine Spectator” has always been considered a cornerstone magazine of drinking well in the American market and beyond.
The “Top 100” of “Wine Spectator” is definitely one of the most eagerly awaited rankings in the world, and among its worldwide best wines there are many Italian ones.
Piedmont and Tuscany shine for number of award–winning wines:
5 from Piedmont (4 Barolo and 1 Barbaresco)
6 from Tuscany (2 Brunello di Montalcino, 1 Chianti Classico, 1 Nobile di Montepulciano, 1 Bolgheri and 2 Tuscany IGT).
More interesting news on the ranking: a sharp growth of viticulture in the South, from Sicily to Campania to Basilicata, and the discovery of new areas suitable for winemaking, such as Valtellina.
