The non-profit Foundation Oltre il Labirinto of Treviso has raised more than six tonnes of recycled corks for which Amorim Cork will reward it with 6,041 Euro. The collaboration for the recycling of corks has been a great achievement.
The non-profit organization of Treviso Oltre il Labirinto last year joined "Etico", a project promoted by Amorim Cork Italia for the collection and recycling of used corks. ETICO project, started as early as 2011, involves many activities related to wine production and to the civil society distributed throughout the national territory from Veneto to Lombardy, Piedmont, Tuscany, Friuli and is expanding throughout Italy with the contribution of numerous associations and public organizations. The company belongs to the Portuguese group Amorim, world leader in the market of cork.
Awards and achievements for Etico and the non-profit organization Oltre il Labirinto
The network presence of collection points all over the territory has enabled the non-profit organization to collect 6,041 kg of corks in 2012, whose value is 6,041 Euro.
The non-profit organization of Treviso, that works with autistic people, will invest the money received from the recycling of corks by Amorim Cork Italia in a project for people with autism.
The Oltre il Labirinto Foundation is very satisfied: "It has been a first year full of satisfaction - the president Alberto Cais says - for the dual purpose of the project, ethical and environmental, an initiative unique of its kind, but also for the incredible participation of a network of associations and great people. Heartfelt thanks to Amorim, with the hope of being able to continue the collaboration in the future. " "The money raised - the director Mario Paganessi says - will be used to purchase an education and employment laboratory in the village of Godega where, a few months ago, we have started organizing activities for children and adults with autism related to agriculture and craft."
In the occasion of the delivery of the Carlos Santos cheque, AD Amorim Cork Italia praised the non-profit organization: "6 tonnes are a substantial quantity - he says - if we think that it refers only to the first year of the initiative, and that concerns a relatively small region. This means that the association has worked a lot to make people aware of the importance of the collection and this is a great achievement that must be rewarded. "
The "Etico" project: achievements
Achieved the objectives of the Etico project, the 6 tonnes collected by the non-profit organization Oltre il Labirinto add up to other amounts already collected in the Lombardy region and that in all exceed the 20 tonnes of corks.
The company Amorim Cork is maintaining its commitment of social responsibility: the project confirms its "ethical" value, not only for the collection and recycling of corks, but also for the awareness of the population regarding environmental protection and conservation of the cork forests, crucial in the fight against desertification and for their contribution to the overthrow of the global production of CO2.
