The Monteprandone winery enters the Integrated Production Quality System. A story of love and respect for the territory inaugurated by grandfather Amilcare "Lu Kont" De Angelis.

It is a certification scheme, developed in 2014 by the then Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, which certifies the use of agronomic techniques with low environmental impact , respecting the ecosystem and human health.
The company owned by the De Angelis family has always stood out in the area for its attention and care towards the environment, a commitment confirmed by its entry into the System which certifies: the minimization of the use of synthesis , the rationalization of agronomic techniques, the respect of ecological, economic and toxicological principles and the maintenance of the traceability chain of the raw materials used.
In the vineyard, Il Conte Villa Prandone opts for natural fertilization in autumn and winter, capable of supplying organic substances to the soil while respecting and improving its structure. Thanks to the use of weather huts , it monitors the climatic data in the vineyard in order to adopt targeted, timely and waste-free treatments. As part of the protection of biodiversity, particular attention is paid to the area surrounding the vineyards: dense vegetation allows the repopulation of the local fauna , ditches and dirt roads help regulate water, while weeds under the rows are systematically eliminated with a light mechanical tillage of the soil.
“Our values constitute a family heritage handed down for three generations now – says Emmanuel De Angelis , the company's oenologist -. We could say that they were formulated by grandfather Amilcare, who as a simple sharecropper, with enormous sacrifices, founded our company together with his son Marino, always showing great care for the land, which is essential for passing on the business to us grandchildren. We have never deviated from this path, on the contrary, over time we have increased investments: among the various initiatives, there is the construction of a photovoltaic system , a system for water recovery and for the reuse of waste materials . The SQNPI certification is the result of seventy years of attention to the environment and the reaffirmation of our will to proceed in this direction”.
Lu Kont Marche Rosso IGP was born from the teachings and gratitude towards Amilcare, from Montepulciano grapes from a single vineyard to which his grandfather was very attached. "Lu Kont" was Hamilcare's nickname, as legend has it that he came from a noble family of landowners who fell into poverty at the end of the 19th century.
Lu Kont contains the history and character of a family. The project requires ten years of studies and experiments involving the three De Angelis generations: Emmanuel with his brothers, father Marino and grandfather Amilcare himself, who died a few months before the release on the wine market in 2010 at the age of 99 .
The Marche Rosso PGI ages for about 15 months in oak barriques and for 12 months in cement tanks, followed by a rest of at least 6 months in the bottle. The result is a wine with great structure, capable of balancing robustness and elegance, to be enjoyed slowly, characterized by an intense ruby red colour, hints of licorice and wild berries, with an aging potential of up to thirty years.
