The document, published in December 2022, was drawn up using the international reference standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and with a view to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and presents the balance of activities for the years 2021, 2020 and 2019.
The Balance will be presented on Thursday 22 December at the Members' Assembly of the Maremma cooperative. The aim is to inform all the subjects involved in the winery's activity on the financial trend, on the economic, social and environmental impacts, and on the most relevant corporate governance aspects.
“The Sustainability Report – explains Benedetto Grechi , president of the Cantina Vignaioli Morellino di Scansano – represents that spirit of clarity and transparency that has always characterized us. It is a precious document, which allows us to take stock of the situation, to further grow next year and in the years to come”.
As far as environmental sustainability is concerned, among the most important results, the excellent performance recorded in waste management should be underlined, where 60% of waste produced (195 out of 322 tons) is recovered with the aim of promoting circular management of processes productive. Added to this is the excellent result in the reduction of emissions , also demonstrated by the calculation of the PEF ( Product Environmental Footprint , a value that measures the environmental footprint of the product along the entire supply chain, from the vineyard to the disposal of the packaging), which has led years to significant improvements, as a result of actions and plans activated to monitor the relevant parameters of the environmental footprint.
In the context of social and economic sustainability , the redistribution of added value , i.e. the share that the organization produces with its own activity and which it distributes to subjects whose quality it recognizes as stakeholders, is equal to 98% of the economic value generated, given that it highlights the leading role played by the cooperative in the economic fabric of the area.
"I am honored - concludes Grechi - to preside over this reality for over thirty years, born half a century ago with the aim of enhancing the Maremma and the Morellino di Scansano, and which proves to be increasingly capable of giving a chance also to the new generations of winemakers, called to cultivate and take care of these marvelous hills”.
