Thus begins the article by Costanza Ruggeri for SkyTG 24 which decrees the 30 most beautiful design wineries in Italy between wine and architecture. The Pizzolato di Villorba winery in the province of Trevis has also been included in this prestigious ranking, a place where the world of wine and design come together in a modern and sustainable vision. From 17 October the winery will also be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday mornings , in order to give lovers of good wine the opportunity to book a visit to the cellar and a guided tasting in this very special location in full compliance with the most recent anti Covid.
Cantina Pizzolato, located in a strategic area between the Piave and the Dolomites in the Prosecco DOC road in Treviso, just 30 km from the famous Venice, was founded in 1985 with the experience of five generations of families who chose to live in harmony with the environment through a long path dedicated to organic production, certified since 1991. Today the Settimo Pizzolato winery is considered one of the leading companies in the production and export of organic wine.
The winery is the daughter of a project signed by MADE Associates , a studio of the Treviso architects Michela De Poli and Adriano Marangon which was included in the Italian Archipelago during the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale as a "project born respecting the landscape equipment that he surrounded according to philosophies that make architecture assume those criteria of social responsibility ". "The project of our cellar - says Settimo Pizzolato, owner of the company - represents for us a radical choice that has had and aims to involve every aspect of the production process over time: from the use of clean energy, self-produced thanks to a photovoltaic system on the roof of the cellar, with its 570 solar panels installed in 2017, to the reduction of waste through the latest generation systems such as the biological and low-energy purifier. Ours is a cellar that is always on the move, which is transformed in a great place of sharing and emotions, through evenings, events and activities aimed at everyone. This is why from this Saturday Cantina Pizzolato will open its doors also on Saturdays and Sundays to allow everyone to discover our wines and our cellar ".
Starting from Saturday 17 October, lovers of good wine will therefore have the opportunity to visit it even during the weekend, by booking a visit and / or a guided tasting and also to enter the organic and vegan wine shop, in this truly unique location. Through the Bio Tour Tradizione it will be possible to know the essence of the winery with a path that will allow you to deepen the history of the Pizzolato family and the territory in which it operates. The visit begins with a walk in the vineyard with a description of the processes from an organic farming perspective, then continues in the winemaking areas until bottling and ends with a tasting of 4 traditional Venetian wines including the "Barbarossa" Raboso Malanotte DOCG 2016 , a vintage that coincides with the year of inauguration of the new winery.
PIZZOLANTO WINERY PROJECT IN BRIEF
The sustainable project of the winery was carried out respecting the environment, the landscape in which it is immersed and to incorporate an entire production chain: the area of the Cantina Pizzolato offices is structured to be the representative image of the company and presents a direct relationship with the open space having on the ground floor a reception area, a sales point and a laboratory area. A suspended walkway is the trait-d'union between the various spatial levels of the architecture and all the production phases, in an ideal continuity, not only visual, of the path that starts from the vineyard to get to the glass. The building has a "skin" consisting of a filter-cladding in wood strips placed vertically in PEFC-certified Beech del Cansiglio, whose oxidation will contribute, over time, to the integration of the structure into the landscape. The paved outdoor space is used for events related to the company's activities.
