The Consortium for the Protection of Custoza offers in Sommacampagna 100 wines by 30 producers of Custoza on 15th September. The occasion will be unique to compare the interpretations of Garganega grapes in the blend for the production of Custoza and other expressions of the same variety.
"Custoza e Altra Garganega" is the exhibition organized by the Consortium for the Protection of Custoza in Sommacampagna (Vr). The location chosen is Villa Venier, a wonderful seventeenth-century estate that will host on 15th September as well as 100 wines offered directly by thirty winegrowers.
"In addition to the varietal appearance - the president of the Consortium for the Protection of Custoza, Giorgio Tommasi, explains - the event is interesting because gives the opportunity to taste the wines when properly aged, in late summer, when the fruity and floral qualities of Custoza begin to merge with the minerality that comes from our morainic hills, making of it a good white wine of good longevity: a feature of Custoza, this, still relatively unknown by the lovers of white wines".
Custoza is among the "historical" white wines of Italian doc, its grapes are grown between the hills of Verona and the Lake Garda. A careful blend of grapes of the area: Garganega, Trebbianello (a local biotype of Tocai Friulano) and Bianca Fernanda (a local clone of Cortese).
The Consortium for the Protection of Custoza organizes "Custoza and Altra Garganega" to make it possible to taste the vast majority of local production (including the rare raisin version). You can compare the wines of the doc with other interpretations of the same grape variety.
In conjunction with "Custoza e Altra Garganega", "Custoza Plus" will take place, a tasting table for the press and food bloggers organized by the Municipality of Sommacampagna.
