On 20th and 21st October, the National Forum of local wines of Fiera Bolzano will take place. As always, the protagonists will be typical productions and professional visitors. An absolute novelty is the 11th edition of the Nordkette preview at high altitude, on 12th August.
Autochtona 2014 offers a unique opportunity to get close to many small companies that hold one of the most original and rich heritages within the Italian wine scene: native grape varieties.
The two–day Bolzano event is confirmed to be one of the most interesting events to get to know some of the most significant Italian grape varieties, often closely linked to specific production areas and to the work of the vigneron and companies that preserve old traditions and identities.
The Autochtona fair is scheduled for 21st and 22nd October in conjunction with Hotel, International trade fair for hotels and gastronomy, which this year reaches the 38th edition.
12th May: Preview of Autochtona 2014
The event will be enhanced by an original "preview" in collaboration with the sommelier of South Tyrol.
Autochtona 2014 will be officially presented at more than 2,000 meters above sea level, at the Alpenlounge Seegrube, in the Nordkette ski resort of Innsbruck, Austria, on 12th August. Specialized press, sommeliers and producers can also taste, during the preview, the labels awarded in the 2013 edition.
At the preview, "Vinea Tirolensis" will be presented, the winegrowers’ tasting of High Adigeche that will be held on 22nd October.
How will Autochtona 2014 be like?
Organized in collaboration with AIS, the Italian Association of Sommeliers, Autochtona will be focused, as always, in two days. In the 2013 edition, the event has recorded the presence of more than 1,000 skilled workers, who could taste 300 local wine labels from all over Italy.
Much awaited, "Autoctoni che Passione!", the selection dedicated to the best wines in the tasting that will be awarded with the "Autochtona Award" by a jury of wine journalists and recognized wine experts. Also confirmed the show "Tasting Lagrein", which will award prizes for the best Lagrein wines.
How to send Autochtona 2014 wines?
The selection criteria of the event favors manufacturers of niche products, limiting membership to only Italian wines with a percentage of native vines of at least 95%.
