The only Italian to win the prestigious international award, Italian Bloom represents the research on the classic method of the cider house in Vigo di Cadore.

It is an award that annually selects and promotes the best ciders from all over the world to consumers and markets, from the United States to New Zealand, passing through the United Kingdom, France and many others. They judged by a commission of experts that this year included prestigious judges such as the author and cider Susanna Forbes, Cath Potter, cider pommelier and co-founder of the Cider Women committee, Aragorn Szostak, company director of Hereford Beer House, a pub specializing in beer and cider, cider blogger Natalia Wszelaki.
The only Italian awarded in this edition, Italian Bloom is the result of the continuous research and study by Cider Vittoria on the classic method , closely connected to the traditional production of apple wine: in fact, multiple historical sources show that twenty years before Dom Pérignon Lord Scudamore had developed a method for making the ciders produced in the Herefordshire area of southern Great Britain sparkling. A method that Sidro Vittoria has chosen in respect of the raw material , from the production in the orchard to the rigorous rules followed in the cellar, with the aim of obtaining a product that is ever closer to the traditional idea of cider in the wake of the British production technique.
“We are particularly happy with this Award - comments Andrea Concina of Sidro Vittoria - which rewards our research and respect for tradition. And we are even more satisfied to have reached this milestone in a competition organized in England, the country that inspires us for the production of our ciders ”.
The creation of a cider house in Cadore was born from the passion of the two partners Andrea Bonalberti and Andrea Concina , Venetians who met in London at the end of the 90s who discovered cider during their time in the British capital and, returning to Italy, decided to become producers. . The project aims to develop a sustainable cultivation of apple and pear trees aimed at transforming the harvest and recovering the best Italian food and wine tradition by combining local historical apple varieties , suitable for the production of cider, with some international ones .
“Normally we don't participate in many competitions - adds Andrea Bonalberti - as our cider breaks away from the canons of industrial production, to get closer to an idea more akin to the concept of wine according to the guidelines of the classic method. We are therefore very proud that our research has been understood and appreciated ”.
Italian Bloom is an Extra Dry apple wine with a fruity and floral scent, with notes of apple, pear and citrus. The fragrance of the Italian varieties of apples used in the cuvée is accentuated by the prolonged stay on the lees. The fresh and lively acidity completes the fruity flavor and the pleasant bitter aftertaste of this cider that reveals a soft bubble, to be enjoyed both as an aperitif and throughout the meal. It is on sale on the Cider Vittoria online shop at a price of 14 euros .
