Sanremo hosts the 13th edition of the A.S.I. Competition "Meilleur Sommelier d'Europe". As well as 37 the sommeliers enrolled in the European competition scheduled for Sunday, 29th September.
The European competition signed A.S.I. (Association de la Sommelerie Internationale) will take place in Sanremo on Sunday, 29th September. The event is organized by ASPI (Associazione della Sommellerie Professionale Italiana) .
The purpose of the competition is to contribute to enhance the sommellerie, a profession that owes its development to the competitiveness and the spirit of emulation among colleagues, generated by highly selective competitions that encourage privileged exchanges and the diffusion and understanding of the profession of sommelier.
The competition for the title of Best Sommelier in Europe has been much anticipated, this European stage is an important all-round challenge for each candidate as:
"The art of sommellerie - Giuseppe Vaccarini says, President of ASPI, Italian emanation of ASI and World's Best Sommelier in 1978 - is a dynamic profession that has evolved in recent decades in all countries of the world and the competition for the titles of Best Sommelier in Europe and in the World reflects the universality of the profession of sommelier. The contemporary sommelier should be a repository of a 360° knowledge, not only on the world of wine, but also on all drinks that accompany the meal, as nowadays the tables all over the world are full of global suggestions that melt through crossing international cuisines".
The 2013 edition of A.S.I. " Meilleur Sommelier d'Europe"
Giuseppe Vaccarini and his team have been working for months to outline the program of a competition that promises to be particularly rich.
The selection criteria for this competition is extremely rigorous and takes place under the control of a technical committee comprising the Best Sommelier in the World.
Each candidate is accompanied by an official delegation that includes a journalist of the specialized press and the president of the national association. 37 are the European Sommelier subscribed. As well as 4 are the women in the competition for A.S.I. " Meilleur Sommelier d'Europe ".
Italy deploys Matteo Ghiringhelli, from Milan, 26 years, with important active experiences in internationally renowned restaurants and hotels, including the Four Seasons Hotel Geoges V in Paris.
The very final is scheduled for Sunday, 29th September, from 4:30 pm, at the Casino Theatre in Sanremo, will be open to the public that will have the opportunity to attend the performances of the three best candidates for the European title.

The competition is organized under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic and under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Liguria Region and with the collaboration of the Province of Imperia, the Imperia Chamber of Commerce and Confcommercio of Imperia.
