The Best Wines of Lazio
The first launch is The Best Wines of Lazio and will take place from 15th to 17th November 2013 at Scuderie Aldobrandini in the Frascati Townhall. The seventeenth–century building was renovated by Massimiliano Fuksas and opened on 8th April 2000. The place will host the event which will see as protagonists the Best Producers of Lazio.
Lazio Wines
In recent years we have experienced an increase in quantity of wine production, that reports +13%, but an even more significant factor is an increase in qualitative terms.
Lazio is the third Italian region by number of denominations. The lands of Lazio were cultivated since the Etruscan age and developed considerabily in the Middle Ages.
The ISTAT data in 2012 showed a recovery in the volume of production of wine in Lazio, a thing not experienced for several years now. The region produces mostly white wines, estimated by ISTAT as 80% of production in 2012 compared to 76% in 2011. As for the area planted, Lazio produces 2.8% of the Italian wine, and within the region 7.1% of the vineyard area is devoted to DOC and DOCG. (Source: Istat, Federdoc and inumeridelvino.it)
“The glass of Lazio, finally of excellent organoleptic quality, has the original and unique advantages deriving from the geographical position of the region in the Italian peninsula: Central Italy, to say, the Mediterranean qualities of Southern Italy, married to the temperate qualities Northern Italy. Great body and great scents”. This is the sensory plus of Lazio described by Luca Maroni.
