The Consortium of Protection of Etna D.O.C. Wines and Ais Milano present the Etna wines in Milan.
On November 17th, 2014, there will be a great tasting event, to get to know the wines and interpreters of one of Italy’s most fascinating terroirs.
After the success of the first stage of Etna Grand Tour at the Hilton Hotel in Rome, Criticism, wine lovers and industry professionals have been called at The Westin Palace – Milan for the second step of Etna Grand Tour – a traveling exhibition organized by the Consortium for Protection of Etna D.O.C. Wines
Etna and its wines
The interest in this area of Sicily is very timely: "A Muntagna", as producers call it, has been since 2013 Unesco World Heritage. The vineyards of Mount Etna are receiving great attention from international criticism. The US "Wine Spectator" magazine has devoted its cover of November right to Etna: "The star of Sicily comes back to life".
"In a little more than ten years, our wines have made huge strides – Giuseppe Mannino, president of the Consortium of Protection of Etna D.O.C. Wines, states – considering that in 2002 the bottling companies were only six, but now are about 80. The area under vine, moreover, is growing by an average of 50 hectares per year. There are very encouraging signs, which if added to the success on the European and international markets, make understand very well the future potential, while our production remains for a niche market and not for large numbers".
Etna Grand Tour in Milan
In Milan, the Etna D.O.C. Consortium wanted to organize a great tasting event, curated by the Delegation of Milan, the Italian Sommelier Association, to get to know the performers of Etna’s territory.
