Now the app of "Viva Sustainable" is available: who owns a smartphone can download freely the official application for iPhone and Android made by the Ministry of Environment. The app allows you to identify the "made in Italy" sustainable wine.
The app is part of a larger project, "Viva Sustainable Wine", that the Ministry is carrying out in collaboration with Agroinnova, the Competence Center of the University of Turin, the Research Center for sustainable agriculture of the Sacred Heart Catholic University, the Research Center on the Biomasses of the University of Perugia.
The purpose of "VIVA Sustainable Wine" is:
"The project "VIVA Sustainable Wine"is designed to measure and improve the eco-sustainable performances of the supply chain vine-wine, from the experiment on some great Italian producers, which submitted their production process to an assessment of the environmental impact from the field to consumption".
Viva aims to encourage the Italian winemaking to move towards a "greener" production, giving companies an accurate diagnostic tool of the impacts of the product-wine, and to the consumers the real guarantee of absolute transparency and "green" quality.
Why the "VIVA Sustainable Wine" App?
The free application for iPhone and Android is able to identify the eco-sustainable wine and to offer valuable information by reading the labels on the bottles of the companies participating in the project.
The app wants to communicate transparently numbers and the aims of the project. A well-known institution within the project states that the purpose of the app is "to promote transparency, in fact, the app reads the labels on the bottles of the companies participating in the " VIVA Sustainable Wine " project.
The app describes also in extensive and thorough way the goals, objectives, results, the team work of the project and the lists of all the wineries participating in the project. The companies involved in the Viva Sustainable Wine project are geolocated, and describe their wines, to be known through extensive wine-sheets.
