New technology to fight counterfeiting of quality wine. The app on the phone that offers information on producing wineries, grape blends, vintages and bottles
A look at the counterfeiting of quality wines
Counterfeiting is a perennial problem for both for wineries and consumers.
To have an indicator of the spread and severity of the phenomenon it is enough to look at the most recent data provided by Coldiretti: in the EU at least 20 million bottles of wine were produced with a wine kit that allows to obtain wines such as Lambrusco or Valpolicella in just 5 days.
New technologies: the anti–counterfeiting app
The BRENTPACK company has patented a free app that allows to trace some of the cork used in caps, providing information on wine and wineries.
Brentapack, a company specialized in closures in the beverage industry, offers a free app of the Idcork system to make easily available information on wine, such as producing winery, grape blends, vintages and bottles.
“Each cap is unique – Gianni Tagliapietra, administrator of Brentapack, said – and, with the technology that we use, we can trace its history, processing and production”.
This initiative aims to be a tool of protection for companies and for consumers.
– Consumers can very easily get information about the wine that they are purchasing or that they are served at the restaurant.
– Companies with this app should resolve the big issue of counterfeiting, a widespread problem in the wine sector.
