It is a native Friulian vine and is grown mainly in town of Prepotto. Its original name was black Ribolla, its present name derives from its sparkling characteristic due to its high acidity especially when it is bottled young. The Schiopettino can also be tasted as a table grape. The wine has a deep purple colour, not very alcoholic and has a good acidity giving it a fresh and citrine flavour. Its aroma reminds of raspberry, blueberry and blackberry. It is ideal to combine with meat dishes.
