It is a red grape vine variety grown exclusively in Tuscany. Unlike the Sangiovese of Romagna, is the basis of many Tuscan red wines (Rosso di Montalcino, Chianti, Nobile di Montepulciano). There are two varieties: Sangiovese Grosso, which includes a variety of Brunello and Sangiovese Piccolo.
