Pugnitello

It has a plant similar to that of the Guyot vine, of very late ripening, and takes its name from the shape of the bunch that seems a small plum. It has been rediscovered and appreciated only recently. Its grape is rich in polyphenols (tannins), it has a particular spicy flavour and an intriguing note that goes beyond the forest fruits, but is always present. It is vinified in single-variety or, more often, as a blending grape for Sangiovese in Chianti Classico.
