It is a native variety of the Colli Piacentini and has documented proofs of its presence in the territory until 1881, when it appears in the "Ampelographic Bulletin" with the name of Altrugo. For decades it was primarily used as a blending grape, and only since the last three decades of the twentieth century the potential of this variety and the opportunity to vinify grapes were discovered. It has big, cylindrical-conical, very compact and often winged bunches, while its grapes are round, medium-size, thick, strong and with greenish-yellow, slightly dotted and covered in bloom skin.
