The first official documentation about this grape dates back to 1200 by Pietro de' Crescenzi, who in "Ruralium Commodorum Libri" talks about Garganica, but already in the year one thousand there are traces of the existence of this grape in the Veneto region. According to several witnesses it belongs to the great family of the Trebbiano and therefore its Etruscan origin would not be put in doubt, given the traditional 'pergola' system of cultivation, imported by the Etruscans and later spread in many areas of northern and eastern Italy. The epicenter of production is concentrated in the areas of Soave and Gambellara, where the Garganega grapes contribute to the establishment of the DOC wines of the area. This vine does not have a predominant acidity and a strong aroma, but very recognizable scents, such as almond and white flowers, a tough and almost red peel and a late ripening (late October).
