It is the most spread red vine variety of Sardinia and probably comes from the Iberian Peninsula: according to many scholars the Cannonau is nothing more than a clone of Spanish "Garnacha" . The growing of Cannonau is concentrated in the central area of ??Sardinia. From Cannonau vine variety we get the redor rose Cannonau made with at least 90% of Cannonau grapes. This wine before being tasted, have to be aged at least for one year in oak or chestnut barrels. Furthermore by fermentation we can be get the Cannonau Rosato or, by the addition of alcohol, the Cannonau Liquoroso.
