This vine, which should not be confused with the Bombino Nero, with which it shares only the rounded shape that gives the name, probably it is native of Spain or, in any case, of the Mediterranean basin. It is a highly productive variety, so much to share with other Italian varieties the name of "uva pagadebiti" (grape to pay debts). Its place of greater spread is the Adriatic coast and especially Puglia, but it is also widely cultivated in Lazio, where contributes to the composition of different DOC. The plant has medium-sized, three or five-lobed leaves, medium-large, cone-shaped bunches and grapes that are often semi-sparse and round, thick-skinned and consistent.
