The Ciacco restaurant is named after the “Divine Comedy” character who speaks to Dante in the Third Circle of Hell, the one that hosts gluttons.
Since 2004, a new staff of professionals has taken over the restaurant and now manages it with the experience each one of them has gained in several historical Bolognese restaurants.
Located in the very heart of Bologna near the Two Towers, Piazza Maggiore, the main hotels and the finest shopping streets, the Ciacco restaurant will also amaze you with its peculiar atmosphere.
The dining hall was originally the cellar of a 17th-century building and the well placed inside its rooms is a trademark of the earliest homes built in the Jewish Ghetto; one of the entrances of the Ghetto was placed just in Via San Simone, although now is no longer visible.
The menu constantly changes according to the availability of fresh foods.
The wine menu offers nearly 400 labels and ranges from classical proposals
to new, small, emerging firms, carefully selected by a trusted professional sommelier.

The kitchen is directed and prepared by Maria Di Giandomenico, the mother, and her collaborators.
The recipes for the stuffing of tortellini and for the traditional ragù alla bolognese are those of the family and are still prepared by Gino Carati, the father, with his long experience.
Bread, crescenta, breadsticks, pressed fresh pasta, egg pasta and stuffed pasta are prepared daily by us, as well as desserts and ice cream.

From Bologna to the sea along the Via Emilia, the ancient Roman road that is named after M. Aemilius Lepidus. Through the centuries at its edges many buildings and residential and commercial premises were built, and, in particular, almost at the exit of Bologna, there was a rest stop for traders, carters, stage coaches. Around town there is a group called "Il Bitone", for its large wedge shape, appropriately called "Bitto". That coaching station, passed through many hands, was restored by the owners a little more than twenty years ago to make an interesting restaurant, considered by everyone cozy and elegant, out of the city walls, but easily accessible by anyone who wants to find traditional and prepared with care food.
The restaurant is closed on Saturdays at noon, Sundays in the evening and Mondays all day.
It is situated in the green countryside outside Bologna, just fifteen minutes from the city center. Founded in 1985 in an old farmhouse from the nineteenth century, it was carefully restored as "escargottiere" ie a place where you can taste snails, in those days prepared by Loredana and Franco Martelli.
Today, it is run by Deborah Martelli and her husband Alessandro Formaggi.
Deborah is the sommelier and she has the task of choosing and match the wines and to take care of the wine cellar, Alessandro supervises the preparation of dishes, from appetizers to desserts and ice cream, produced at home without forgetting bread, that is baked fresh both at midday and in the evening.
The menu, that the 800 restaurant offers, and that has made it known and appreciated to a wide clientele including foreigners, is based on particular specialties such as snails, frogs, mushrooms and truffles; but there are also dishes of the Bologna cuisine, and puff pastry still pulled by hand, to sfogline pastry.
Over the years the 800 restaurant has obtained reviews in the major food guides, as well as the coveted Michelin star.

It is surrounded by a large garden where in summer you can dine by candlelight in the cool of the countryside.
About 15 kilometers from the center of Bologna, along Via Ferrarese, just before Altedo, Osteria Il Truciolo is located, a warm and romantic venue where as you enter you notice the open kitchen, a guarantee of quality and professionalism of Giuliana Morselli, who prepares in front of the diners exquisite Emilia specialities. In the second room, instead, there is a fireplace, always lit in winter. Finally, along the short corridor you reach one of the most pleasant corners of Osteria Il Truciolo: a few tables, bottles of wine on the walls and a view of the bar–tobacconist, on wood, old style, with fine cigars on the counter and old prints on the walls. The wine list, which here they serve also in glasses, include interesting labels of the Colli Bolognesi Doc.
Maremma is still one of the few places where animals grow in a serene setting and then in a natural way. This is also thanks to the ancient wisdom of the butteri, men who spend their lives on horses between green and herds, cultivating the land with the tradition of their ancestors. With their contribution, in this elegant restaurant you can still find the genuineness of meat, oils and wines of our land.
