Il Latini's kitchen was originally the kitchen of Narciso's wife, who used to take the dishes from her home to the cellars in Palazzo Rucellai where tables were set.
Sora Maria's cooking was made of ingredients and flavours typical of tuscan cuisine, simple and genuine food that nowadays are still a characteristic of the restaurant.

The flood in Florence did not spare the tavern, which continued nevertheless to serve warm dishes Florentine citizens among the muddy streets.

Il Guscio restaurant was founded in Florence in 1986, in the historic San Frediano district, within the walls of the city and at a stone’s throw from Ponte Vecchio, Piazza del Carmine and the Basilica of the Holy Spirit, by very passionate people (Sandra, Elena and Francesco), who after more than twenty years continue to manage this restaurant with the same enthusiasm with which they started. In the evening the restaurant is adorned with linen tablecloth and menu is enriched. A few minutes from Viale Europa, in Rimaggio locality, the famous Trattoria Donnini is located, a place that recalls memories. In the past, it was a resting place for travellers who had to deal with the “Consuma”.

The architectural structure is reminiscent of the Tuscan country houses, with that air of serenity and harmony that can be found also inside. One of the rooms, in effect, offers the opportunity to dine in front of a large fireplace that immediately creates an atmosphere of relaxation and makes you feel really at home. The family management of Carla, Francesco and Gian Marco, will serve you Tuscan and fish dishes with great care and courtesy. The attention for raw materials is high, as well as the level of homemade bread, pasta and desserts. We recommend you to start with the Donnini appetizer, with mixed meats and croutons, and the legendary “antinfluenzale” (“anti–flu”): tripe carpaccio, onion and piattellini beans, a recipe that has been handed down for over a century, and the salt cod mousse on soft chickpeas crouton.

To follow, first courses, such as risotto with cream of saffron in pistils, tagliatelle made of chestnut flour with duck and mushrooms ragout, tortelli stuffed with guinea fowl seasoned with truffles. Of high level are also frieds made ​​as it was used in the past, with a net.

The Donnini Great Fried is made with chicken, rabbit, brain and seasonal vegetables.
