Established at the time of the Patriarchy of Venice, the “berlina” was a column, placed in the middle of the town square, moved near to the premise in the early twentieth century, to which people guilty of minor offenses were chained and exposed to public ridicule.
Until the beginning of the century, in front of the tavern, there was the tool of punishment which gave the name to this place, “Alla Berlina”.
We are in Santa Maria la Longa, along the road that connects the fortress of Palmanova to Udine. At the traffic light of the town there is the Trattoria that Bruno Danielis has been running since 1975 with his wife Luisa and collaborators.
Inside, the environment has been renovated recently, has a rustic and innovative flavour that can be found in dishes of the typical Friulian cuisine, sometimes revisited.
