In the early eighties the Cigui family settled in Santa Barbara, in a rustic farmhouse, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and fruit trees: the ideal environment to allow them to continue to remain faithful to the Istrian gastronomic traditions.
Taverna Cigui is today a classic example of a perfect blend of nature and genuine food, on the hill of Muggia overlooking the Gulf of Trieste and the Istrian coast.
Vineyards and olive trees provide raw materials to enhance the flavors. Fruits and vegetables from own gardens are also another essential element to enrich the menu.
The atmosphere is friendly and familiar, the menu follows the course of the seasons, whether it is fish or vegetables or other things.
Taverna Cigui is about ten minutes from the A4 motorway, while the Slovenian border is in the immediate vicinity. Taverna Cigui is also easily accessible from Austria via Ljubljana (Slovenia).
