A few minutes from Viale Europa, in Rimaggio locality, the famous Trattoria Donnini is located, a place that recalls memories. In the past, it was a resting place for travellers who had to deal with the “Consuma”.
The architectural structure is reminiscent of the Tuscan country houses, with that air of serenity and harmony that can be found also inside. One of the rooms, in effect, offers the opportunity to dine in front of a large fireplace that immediately creates an atmosphere of relaxation and makes you feel really at home. The family management of Carla, Francesco and Gian Marco, will serve you Tuscan and fish dishes with great care and courtesy. The attention for raw materials is high, as well as the level of homemade bread, pasta and desserts. We recommend you to start with the Donnini appetizer, with mixed meats and croutons, and the legendary “antinfluenzale” (“anti–flu”): tripe carpaccio, onion and piattellini beans, a recipe that has been handed down for over a century, and the salt cod mousse on soft chickpeas crouton.
To follow, first courses, such as risotto with cream of saffron in pistils, tagliatelle made of chestnut flour with duck and mushrooms ragout, tortelli stuffed with guinea fowl seasoned with truffles. Of high level are also frieds made as it was used in the past, with a net.
The Donnini Great Fried is made with chicken, rabbit, brain and seasonal vegetables. Do not miss the chicken tagliata with aromas of wood on a bed of salad greens, and a Fiorentina steak for true connoisseurs. Among the fish dishes, worth to mention are the Livorno cod fish and the fried of calamari and shrimps. Delicious desserts, such as apple pie made as it was used in the past, and a warm cake with vanilla and local apricot jam, are very suitable also for ceremonies and weddings.
