Tre Bicchieri: the best wines of Trentino awarded by Gambero Rosso

  • 26/09/2024

The two new products this year awarded with the Tre Bicchieri in the Gambero Rosso Vini d'Italia 2025 guide are exemplary. Etyssa and Lavis sign two great cuvées based on Chardonnay

One is produced by a small start-up of four young winemakers, the other is the daughter of an important cooperative. In summary, and without stopping at the awards alone, we note a great linearity in the simplest products, which combined with the complexity of the vintage and Rosé versions determines a position of absolute importance of the Bollicine di Montagna at the top of national production.

Tre Bicchieri 2025 of Trentino. Still wines

All this is accompanied by a solid production of still wines , which shows that the region has several arrows in its bow. The great grape is the Teroldego capable, in the Rotaliana plain, of giving life to truly complex , deep reds, with a smooth and satisfying drink . There are two award-winning wines in this typology while, remaining among the reds, the Pinot Noir finds its beautiful dimension even among the still wines.

Among the whites, we highlight the goodness of some great Nosiola , produced both in the fresh, vintage version and in more complex versions, which come out a few years after the harvest and prove to be wines for long aging. Without forgetting the great Vino Santo , produced with the same variety, a great protagonist of the Valle dei Laghi. Another grape variety to keep an eye on is the Müller Thurgau and this is demonstrated by the Monogram by Pojer & Sandri , one of the best.

Last but not least, the so-called international grapes. In Trentino they have adapted very well and are an ancient custom, to the point that they can now be considered traditional. Clear proof of this is provided by one of the greatest Italian reds, San Leonardo (60% cabernet sauvignon, 30% carmenère, 10% merlot). It is produced by the winery of the same name, a true model for history, richness, qualitative consistency and vision.
