The goal is to evaluate the Veronese wine tourism facilities and reward those that stand out for their original and quality offer. Each year, companies can compete within various categories: hospitality, catering, architecture and landscape, art and culture, innovative experiences for wine tourism and sustainable practices for wine tourism; a seventh category is envisaged for companies serving the wine supply chain. This year the participating companies were 90, including Cantina Rocca Sveva, of the Cantina di Soave group, which competed in the innovative experiences category, winning the prestigious 2021 title with the following motivation: "For the innovative hospitality with which one of the largest wineries in Europe hosts thousands of visitors who can experience original moments of approaching the taste and culture of wine ”.
The jury was positively impressed by the quantity and variety of wine tourism experiences offered by the winery both outdoors, during the summer, and indoors, in the winter months, an offer that is enriched with new elements every year. The themed events that the winery organizes at different times of the year (Halloween, Valentine's Day, Women's Day, Carnival, Harvest and many others) have certainly played a fundamental role, involving entertainment companies, artists, stylists, partners of various nature, selected from time to time with great creativity in order to make the wine experience unique and unrepeatable.
«For us, hospitality is a factor of primary importance - comments the General Manager Wolfgang Raifer - both for the communication of our company and from an economic point of view. We have a beautiful winery right at the foot of the medieval castle of Soave, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. A place that gives the opportunity not only to make us better known but also to make all those who visit us understand the values of our denominations, which are the historical ones of this territory ».
"We are very proud to have won this award - comments Sara Molinaroli Hospitality Manager - at Rocca Sveva wine is an experience before a product and we believe that emotion is the key to everything, for this reason we try to offer new activities. and as original as possible ».
The Best Of Competition is part of the larger Great Wine Capitals project, a network that brings together 11 world cities: Adelaide-Australia, Bilbao-Rioja Spain, Bordeaux-France, Capetown-South Africa, Lausanne-Switzerland, Mainz-Germany, Mendoza-Argentina, Porto-Portugal, San Francisco-United States, Valparaiso-Chile and Verona, which has the great honor of being the only Italian city in the network of the world's great wine capitals. Each of the winners in the seven categories of the Best Of will then participate in the international selection to be held during the annual meeting of Great Wine Capitals which will elect a Global Winner for Capital. The Chamber of Commerce of Verona has also created, as every year, the "Verona Wine and Olive Oil Tourism" guide which gathers all the 90 wineries that participated and from this year also the oil mills that offer experiences for tourists. The guide, distributed with the newspapers L'Arena, Il Giornale Di Vicenza and Brescia Oggi, will be presented during the main international tourism fairs and will be disseminated at the tourist offices of the territory and the Enit offices around the world. For the participating companies it is an excellent showcase, as well as an opportunity to join an important network on a global level
